What is the main purpose of fasting during Ramadan? |

The main purpose of fasting in this holy month of Ramadan is to gain the pleasure of Allah Ta'ala. Apart from this, there are some other purposes which are mentioned below such as:-
By fasting in this holy month of Ramadan, people learn to control their desires and evil inclinations. Through this, qualities like restraint and tolerance are created in the mind of people.
We humans obey the orders of Allah and express our obedience to Him by fasting.

For our Muslims, this holy month of Ramadan is the month of forgiveness of sins. In this month, people ask Allah for forgiveness and promise to refrain from sinful acts.
By fasting during this holy month of Ramadan, people can develop deep faith and fear of Allah.
How many rak'ahs is Taraweeh prayer and what is its importance? |
---|
Number of rak'ahs of Taraweeh prayers:
In this holy month of Ramadan, Tarawih prayer is a special sunnah prayer, which is performed after the Isha prayer and before the Witr prayer. It is a Sunnah Mu'akkadah prayer. That is, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to perform it regularly. The Tarawih prayer of the month of Ramadan is a total of 20 rak'ahs, and after every two rak'ahs, the prayer has to be completed by saying the salaam. However, it is recommended to take a rest after performing four rak'ahs of prayer. During this rest, it is better to do Tasbih-Tahlil, Dua-Duraud and Dhikr-Azkar. Even some Muslims come and perform 8 or 12 rak'ahs of Tarawih prayer. Both methods are acceptable and common among Muslims.
And the Tarawih prayer in this holy month of Ramadan is a special gift, which is a special mercy from Allah Almighty for His servants.
Importance of Taraweeh Prayer:
One of the most important acts of our holy month of Ramadan is Tarawih prayer. And performing this Tarawih prayer gives us the opportunity to use the blessed time of Ramadan properly.
Performing Tarawih prayer in this holy month of Ramadan brings many rewards. However, it is mentioned in the hadith that whoever performs Tarawih prayer on the night of Ramadan with faith and with the hope of reward, all his previous sins are forgiven.
By performing this Tarawih prayer, we have the opportunity to reach the presence of Allah. And through supplication and prayer, we can obtain Allah's mercy and forgiveness.
After the Isha prayer of this holy month of Ramadan, many worshippers gather in the mosque to perform Tarawih prayer. And this helps to strengthen the unity and bond of our Muslim community.
By performing Tarawih prayer in this holy month of Ramadan, we can all seek repentance, forgiveness and mercy from Allah.
What has been said about the virtues of Laylat al-Qadr? |
---|
Virtues of Laylatul Qadr.
This Laylatul Qadr, also known as Shab-e-Qadr, is a very virtuous night for Muslims. The virtues of this night have been mentioned in the Quran and Hadith. Below are some of its important virtues:-
In Surah Al-Qadr of the Holy Quran, it is said, "Surely We have sent it down on the Night of Decree." This night is especially important for the Quran to be revealed on Laylatul Qadr.
In Surah Al-Qadr of the Holy Quran, it is also said, "This Night of Decree is better than a thousand months. Worship on this Night of Decree is more rewarding than worshipping for a thousand months.
On this holy Night of Decree, the angels descend and shower peace on the worshipping believers. The angels and the Spirit (Jibreel) descend by the command of their Lord for every matter.
The entire night of this holy Night of Decree is peaceful and secure. This night ends in security and peace, until the dawn breaks.
Special worship on this holy night of Laylatul Qadr:
- It is very virtuous to perform special worship and supplication on this holy night of Laylatul Qadr. Our beloved Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said, "Whoever worships on the night of Laylatul Qadr with faith and in the hope of reward, all his previous sins will be forgiven."
Special supplication on this holy night of Laylatul Qadr:
There is a special worship on this holy night of Laylatul Qadr, which our beloved Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) taught: (Allahumma innaka afun, tuhibbul afuwa, fa'fu anni) meaning: O Allah, You are the Forgiving, You love to forgive, so forgive me.
This Laylatul Qadr is the night of forgiveness and mercy for all of us. By praying on this night, we can seek forgiveness from Allah. Laylatul Qadr can occur on any odd night of the last ten days of Ramadan. Therefore, we should pray more in the last ten days of Ramadan to gain the virtues of this night.
What are the Sunnah and Etiquette of Sehri and Iftar? |
---|
Sehri and Iftar are important parts of our holy month of Ramadan. We can gain more rewards if we follow some Sunnahs and etiquette while having Sehri and Iftar.
Sunnah and Etiquette of Sehri:
Before we eat Sehri, we should make the intention to fast, and making the intention is Sunnah.
Our beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, "There is blessing in the Sehri meal.
It is Sunnah to delay the time of eating this Sehri until the last moment.
The amount of our Sehri meal should be less. And we should not eat too much.
We should say Bismillah at the beginning of our Sehri meal and say Alhamdulillah after finishing our meal.
After finishing our Sehri meal, we should make supplication and pray to Allah.
Sunnah and Etiquette of Iftar:
It is Sunnah to break the fast as soon as it is time for Iftar. Our beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, βThe sooner a person breaks his fast, the better off he will be.β
Make dua before and after breaking the fast. The dua for breaking the fast is: Allahumma inni laka sumtu, wa bika amantu, wa alaika tawakkaltu, wa aβla rizqika aftartu). Meaning: βO Allah! I have fasted for You, I have put my trust in You, I have relied on You, and I have broken my fast with Your provision.β
Our beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) used to break his fast with dates. However, if he could not buy dates, he would break his fast with water.
When we break our fast after fasting all day, we should say Bismillah before breaking our fast.
It is Sunnah for us to eat sweet and light food while breaking our fast. However, I think fried foods should be avoided.
After we break our fast, we should pray Maghrib prayer in congregation in the mosque.
If we follow these Sunnahs and manners during Sehri and Iftar, our worship will be more blessed and rewarding.
Thank you very much for reading my post. May everyone be well and healthy always, by the grace of God. I end here by wishing everyone a long life.
Best Regards
