INTRODUCTION
At some points in our lives, we all needed help, and sometimes we get the help we need other times we don't. But what happens when you need help and you have a relative, family, that can help you but they don't, knowing fully well the effect it would have on you.
But the thing is we All grow up and just have to let go of the pains of the disappointment we got.
How it all started
I grew up with my family till, when I got to age 11 after my primary education. My parents told my I will be attending a boarding school,in the east, and the school close to my village, just one taxi drop.
In my family we were very comfortable,at least my Dad could provide our needs, check what it cost to train a child in a boarding school, then.
I saw my Dad train and settle some of his brothers sons, and most of them are well to do.
I finally went to school, and whenever we have a break, I go to my village to stay, till the break is over. MY Dad usually send enough money for my upkeep, that I got to know later, but I was practically starving, I always go back to school empty handed, I beg in school because the food we were given was never enough.
I was almost never visited in school, even when they promised my Dad they will visit me during visiting days, but they never came.
The same relatives if mine who should treat me well treated me like I don't matter. I went through all that till I graduated from secondary School.
Let's fast forward to when I gained admission into the higher institution
Things changed for my Dad ,the period I gained admission, things were no longer the way it use to be for my Dad, we were just managing.
During those period I expected those cousins of mine my Dad made who they are today to come to my aid, they never did. Even when I call for help, they would always give one excuse or the other.
I couldn't just keep hoping on them or to keep bothering my parents, I had to get a job while I was in school, I was schooling and working at the same time, how bad for a student.
Help was not coming from anywhere. Some times I go to visit my grandma from my maternal home, she was the only one who would run around and get me some food stuffs,I would be managing in school.
It was really painful because,I had relatives who could pay for my 5 year tuition fee and it won't scratch thier pocket. How bad.
But the good thing is that all those experiences made me the strong woman that I am today.
Am a graduate, and am happily married now, soon to be a mother.
Conclusion
Some times the hardship and disappointment we face in life, are usually a stepping stone to whom we are meant to become. Let's always try to lend a helping hand to the people closest to us, like it is said Charity begins at home.
Best regards
