Mimosa pudica (from Latin: pudica "shy, bashful, or shrinking") is a creeping annual or perennial blooming plant in the pea/legume family Fabaceae that is also known as sensitive plant, drowsy plant, action plant, touch-me-not, and shameplant. It's commonly grown for its curiosity value: when touched or shaken, the complex leaves fold inward and droop, guarding themselves from harm.

Mimosa pudica is well-known for its quick growth. It, like a number of other plant species, goes through "sleep" or nyctinastic movement, which causes changes in leaf orientation. During the night, the foliage shuts and reopens in the light. Jean-Jacques d'Ortous de Mairan, a French scientist, was the first to investigate this. Mimosa became an ideal plant for numerous research because to its unusual reactivity to touch.
