INTRODUCTION

Hai beautiful people how are you doing today, hope all is moving forward according to schedules, thank you. This is my day 3 presentation in this contest. I have presented Ofe nsala, 2nd day presentation was beans and ripped plantain and today, my 3rd presentation is called 'Garnished potato'. A meal I formed out of curiosity of what next to do. After a long time of only cooking potatoes and eat with oil, or frying it, I became tired of those methods. I combined this method and ever since we in the family love it.
It's a family recipe, we love to eat any time any day. My children also can prepare garnished potato meal very well. I hope you too will love this meal as we do, thank you for coming by.

POTATOES

Potatoes as we all know is a tuber crop, starchy, nutritious, a source of potassium, fiber, protein, and vitamins C, B6 and iron, good for human consumption from ages past.

We have the Irish potato and sweet potatoes. I normally use the Irish potatoes when we lived in the Northern Nigeria where it's surplus but it's not easily seen in the Eastern Nigeria where I reside now, I decided to use the sweet potatoes. Both of them are equally good, you can use any of them to prepare this delicious meal.

CARROTS

Carrots are popular root vegetables we live with on daily basis, carrots are seen around us and are very affordable.
CARROTS as we can see here has so much health benefits to the human body. Like prevention of heart diseases, eating carrots always prevents you from having high blood pressure. Carrots boost our immunity, it help to digest our food because it's in the large family of vegetables.

BEETROOT

Beetroot like carrots are in the same family of root vegetables that can be easily found around us daily, they can be found in vegetable shops. It has a beautiful colour of mixed purple and a kind of red.
It has so many nutritious benefits like blood building, detoxification of the human liver, it's good for pregnant women. You can eat raw like carrots or use it to cook as I have done here.

LIVER (MEAT)

Liver from cow is a good part of meat that is the part of meat I use when cooking garnished potato for my family. I buy it from meat sellers in our markets. Come home cut them in tiny forms, when cooking it you add salt. Then add it to the meal.
You chew it along with the food when eating.
Liver as we know is a blood builder.

GREEN PEE

Green pee is a growing beans not yet matured but harvested from the farm. It's a good source of protein, good for children and adults. It's legumeus with calcium and vitamins. Good for everyone in the family.

VEGETABLE OIL/ CURRY POWDER

Vegetable oil as you can see is one satchet, you don't need too much oil, just to be able to fry certain things. Curry powder is just to give it a colour and flavour, I used a satchet and half because I cooked just a little.

These are all my ingredients to cook the delicious garnished potato meal.

METHOD OF COOKING

  • Step 1
    Peel all your potatoes and slice them to smaller sizes, wash with clean water and pour them into your cooking pot and boil on the gas. Do not allow it to over cook, it's not a portage potatoes but a garnished potato meal. Just a normal cooking you remove and sieve out the hot water and keep it.
  • Step 2
    Boil your liver meat, add a little salt and boil, it's ok, keep aside too.
  • Step 3
    Blend together your pepper, garlic and ginger and keep it aside also.
  • Step 4
    Put your pot on fire, pour in the vegetable oil, let it get a little hot then pour in your sliced onions allow for a little time, then add your blended ginger garlic and pepper into the pot stair it, allow it to get a little dry.
    *Step 5
    Add your sliced everything from carrot to green per, then stair to make them mixed together, add your Maggie as you like, taste a little to know how far before adding salt if needed.
  • Step 6
    Now add the already boiled and sieved potatoes and stair all very well to be able to mix well. Allow it a very little while so that those other vegetables won't over cook, then remove from the fire heat and serve, the delicious garnished potato meal is done.
