Introduction
I'm happy to be here to share my day with you and also take part in this activity. This a summary of how I spent my day on Friday, the 11th March,2022.
My Morning
My alarm woke me up at exactly 5:30am on this beautiful Friday morning, and I got out of bed to prepare to go to our early morning prayer in church by 6 a.m. and also attend to other businesses of the day on early as I had a lot of things to do that day: I needed to cook Afang Soup; I had wanted to make Afang soup for quite some time now, so I decided that that day was the day. I also had lots of online notes on Forex to study and a child to teach later in the evening.
I brushed my teeth, dressed up, took some money and left for church.
We finished in church around past 7 a.m. and I went straight to the market, first, to get cabbage for my snails and, second, to buy food stuff to make the Afang soup.
Now, there are two markets: one, Akpan Andem Market, I go there to get the cabbage for my snails, and the other, Afaha Market, which is quite close to where I live.
I go there to buy food stuff because things are cheaper there. So I got to Akpan Andem Market, and went straight to meet this kind woman that allows me pack the outermost unwanted cabbage leaves.
After I got the cabbage, I went straight to Afaha Market to buy my food stuff.
I got home around 11 a.m. and decided to have a little breakfast so I could have energy to engage in the long cooking.
After my breakfast, I sat down prepared the ingredients which include:
water leaves, meat, fish, stock fish, periwinkle, Knorr or Maggie, crayfish, and of course, salt. Notice that I didn't mention onions. That, is intentionally left it out as it is not needed in Afang Soup!
The Afang leaves, the main ingredient of Afang soup, known botanically as Gnetum Africanum is a climbing leafy vegetable belonging to the family; Gnetaceae. Now, cutting it into pieces is the exclusive job of those skilled in it, though I have done it before, it's a very cumbersome job, so I bought it already washed and cut in market. However, I didn't allow them grind it in the market as the machine they use usually contributes to it having a certain kind of scent which is, maybe from the oil in d machine, and it's usually not nice at all.
So to eliminate this scent, I took it home and then pounded it using a mortar and pestle, since I don't have a blender, yet. I washed the periwinkle and boiled it, added salt to taste, washed it again, and set it aside. Then, I boiled the stock first for some time for it to be soft before adding meat and seasonings to it.
While this was on the fire I cut the water leaves, and grounded the crayfish and fresh pepper. When the meat was done, first I added palm oil, then, my Knorr cubes, pepper, crayfish and the cut water leaves and perrinkle, and covered the pot. After two minutes, I added Afang leaves and cover the pot for two more minutes. Tasted it to check the level of salt, and added a little more. Then I stirred, covered, and lo! My Afang soup was ready!
Afang Soup can be eaten with garri, fufu, semovita or pounded yam. To say the truth, I wasn't aware the soup was that delicious until a friend of mine came the following day and disclosed it to me. My head went big! Are you thinking what I'm thinking?! Maybe, I think I should take up a job as a caterer! (Smiles)

My Afternoon
After that sumptuous meal, I couldn't help, but fall into a deep siesta which lasted for over an hour. I got up refreshed and then went over my forex trading notebook and absorbed the important points there. This lasted for about two hours. I learnt about the various trading pairs, trading time and that it's best to settles for one particular trading pair and Master it.
My Evening
Around 4 p.m., I left to go teach my little boy.
On reaching there, he greeted me with the news that he got 10/10 that day in his Maths class work, and was quite excited. We went over his homeworks, then we settled for the day's lesson.
We went over our lessons on time telling, fraction and 6 ways to apply multiplication. Though he gets easily distracted, he did brilliantly well in his class work.
After the lesson, I went to my favourite spot to to play snooker and have fun with my guys.
Conclusion
I got home around 10 p.m., had my bath, made a light dinner, and lay on my bed reminiscing over the days activities as I replied to my whatsapp and messenger messages, and before I new it, slept off.
