Lower Back Pains Caused by Bad Posture by ityfrank

Introduction

Have you ever woken up in the morning and discovered you have some unexplainable pains on your lower spine or waist? You must have given your spine a wrong posture the previous day or night.

In this article, I am going to share some thoughts to what can cause this unexplainable pain and give simple home remedy that will surprise you.

Wrong Lying Posture

One of the major cause of lower back pain is wrong posture! Any constant wrong positioning of our bodies that causes out spine to shift from its natural position for a long time will cause pain and will have effects on us much later in life.

On thing that can cause you pain by giving a wrindg posture is your big soft mattress! Yes you heard me. That big squashy mattress you have in your bedroom that feels so comfortable can be the cause of your lower back pain.

When you sleep in such a mattress that doesn't permit your body (spine in particular) to be straight when we are sleeping on it, that could just be your problem. It bends to the weight of our body thereby changing the shape of our spine. See the image to see the correct position of our spine when facing up.

Remedy:

  • Change your Mattress: If you can afford to change your mattress to the type that doesn't bend so much when you sleep on it, please do that. If you can't afford to change it immediately, you can, there is still hope.

  • Place a wooden board on the mattress and cover it up with blankets and bed sheet and be sleeping on it like that. Try this for one week, you see the difference.
    If you're not comfortable seeing a board on top of your mattress each time get someone to slice open the mattress in due to and
    Use a knife and slice the mattress open, like a quarter way close to the top, the side you lie on and inserts the board in it, and then put the whole mattress and board back into the cloth it came with.

  • My last option is that you sleep on the floor. Make sure you spread your blanket, wrapper and duvet just to insulate yourself from a cold floor. Sleep on that for now till you set any the above in place.

Other Causes of Lower Back Pains

Apart from a wrong lying position, a lot of us a guilty of a lot of other bad postures, like:

  • Sitting with you back bent.

  • Having something bulky our back pocket like your wallet that makes our spine tilt to one side while sitting.

  • Wrong standing posture - not standing straight.

  • Wearing high heals

More Efects of poor posture

Other Effects of wrong posture include:

  • spinal dysfunction
  • joint degeneration
  • rounded shoulders
  • potbelly

Other Ways to Correct Some of the Wrong Postures

  • Avoid sitting on a soft squashy chair.
  • Instead, use an ergonomic chair when sitting for long time.
  • Put a pillow ( or what is called lumbar rolls) behind your lower back when sitting in regular chair or driving a car.
  • Use a mattress that helps keep your spine straight when lying on your side.
  • Use a pillow to supports your neck when lying down.
  • When lifting heavy weights, use your thigh muscles not your back muscles and Keep your back straight.

More Remedies

  • Regular exercise and stretching.
  • Instead of high heels, go for flats or wedges.
  • Do deep breathe ins often.
  • Practice how to walk properly.
  • Be attentive to how you feel.
  • Finally, make sure you see a physiotherapist.

Conclusion

Not all back pain is caused by a disease, some are caused by our wrong postures and can be corrected at home.
