Purchasing power by@joelmaxwell

I sauntered into his shop, this young man who had started graying early; probably from the responsibility of having to take care of two kids with the most recent one just about 2 months and some days and requested for an exercise book.

He said 80 leaves is 180 naira; I arched my brow. The last time I checked it was 150 naira.
"Wow, the prices of things seems to be going up these days" I said.
He said scratching his head "of course".

"Make we just go back to 19 long ago; where we no go buy books or eat all these fancy things". A customer came along to buy a small tissue. He said "na 60 naira ooo". The customer argued that it's 50 naira now. He said,

"Make we start to dey use leaves, for ancient time our papa dey use leaves". He wrapped the tissue and handed it to the guy who stood smiling.
"If everybody stop to dey use all these products, biscuits, tissue, and we chop only soup; them go see say people no dey buy things again then them go reduce price of things. Make everybody just try am".

I scratched my scalp and wondered at his way of proffering solution to the price increase of goods. I wondered if consumers could do that with their purchasing power.
Once again congratulations to our year rubber representative @ngoeyin
