A Short Story...

A DAY I WOULD NEVER FORGET

It was a public holiday, I was at my sister's place at Osapa London, Lekki, Lagos, Nigeria.
When my best friend suggested we go to the Lekki Conservation Centre. I felt it was going to be fun, so I agreed. I love adventures so I was super excited. I discussed it with my sister and she agreed.
The D-Day came. It was a Saturday, I couldn't hide my excitement! I was going to see nature. And the conservation center was known for having a canopy walk ranked second longest in Africa, different species of monkeys, tortoise, beautiful peacock, different species of plants, etc. I didn't understand what this meant.
When the journey started, it was fun at the beginning because we were walking on the bridge and I thought that was it. But it wasn't. Now walking on the bridge, there were also some monkeys on the bridge hanging around and some of them coming out from their hiding place. Before going on this journey we were told to offload whatever food or drink from our hands and put it in our backpacks if at all we must go with it.
We got to the canopy walk and my heart paced faster.

We were warned not to go with transparent bags for security and also to be careful of snakes and not to fall.
We got to the canopy walk. I started the first phase, meanwhile I was careful not to be the first person in front because I was terrified and have a phobia for height. We went in batches, ten persons per batch. At the same time, it felt amazing and I was happy because I'm doing something I've always seen on the television or in movies. It was real for me. It was like a fantasy come true 😂🥺. In about five - ten minutes, I was done with the first phase and there was a resting point,so we rested for a few seconds because we didn't want the rest of the batches meeting us, so as the canopy won't collapse due to the weight on it. That was the aim of going in batches in the first place.

We began the second phase, and mehn was this higher than the first. I got more frightened and wanted to back out. But it dawned on me then, once you've started this journey there's no going back. Because that would mean only I would be going back and I would have to wait for all the batches to come through......
So, I had to persevere and finish these journey..🥺😟

To cut the long story short, the first three phases was from the lowest to the highest and the last three phases was from the highest to the lowest. Then we arrived at the other side back to the bridge we first came in. But there were two diversions, so myself, my sister and friends decided to follow the sign that said Games. We enjoyed ourselves by buying Chicken barbecue and Beef Suya. Then,we played games ranging from Ludo, Chess,Checkers, Draft, etc.
Then made our way back to the entrance and continued our party there.
