The World Full Of Hatred

if the world be full of hatred...

the words of a stoic;
an old man who lives in my body,
who turned my soul into a soil for his worm to breathe:

become a choir of rivers if the world
becomes a mountain before you
& sing your navigation around it.

become a tongue of silence if the world
becomes a Colosseum of voices
hurling morbid jeers at you
& shun the madness of men.

whatever ill the world wears
can not cloak you into itself.
when men chant the incantations of hatred
with a concatenation of voices that poke your body,
turn yourself into a wall of love & the arrows
of wickedness shall fall as flax before a blue flame.

pause:
do not be overcome with evil,
but with your good overcome evil.
or what good is it hating the man who hates you?

let the world be full of hatred,
the love from one man will dissolve it.
let 1,000 cargos of wax be laid high upon the ground,
small woods crackling in a fireplace
will melt them into water.
