Malaria - the cause, effects and how to protect oneself.
Malaria is the state of ill health, break down in the human body system as a result of attack of a vector parasite (Plasmodium) caused by mosquito bite. Among the two types of mosquito, Anopheles and Culex mosquitos, Anopheles the female one whose egg bearing parasite is the major cause of the unwholesome state of health.
It is worthy of note that mosquito breeds much in the tropical region of the hemisphere where we found ourselves. Malaria is the main cause of the high mortality rate witnessed in the country. It attacks every person, both old and young that so gets exposed to it's breeding ground, endemic areas of mosquito lava.
After breeding in bushy/unkept environment or stagnant water, it hatches it's numerous eggs and begins to fly about, perching in human bodies and sucking their blood in the process, while living in the body system it's ugly and unwelcome parasite that leads to I'll health. This same malaria parasite has a more devastating effect on pregnant and nursing mothers as well as children in general.
Effects of Mosquito Bite: - by the attack of malaria, there is a reduction in human ( man power) productivity, that is employed or engaged in both public and private sectors of the economy. The time the sick would have utilized to produce something if value is instead used to attend to a health challenge caused by malaria
It gulps a huge chunk of the government budget in the health sector. The money that ought to be used for development purposes is chanelled to purchase drugs, medical tools, kits and equipment.
There has emerged a competitive scenario between Orthodox and Herbal medical practitioners as to which body can authentically claim to be effectively treating permanently the malaria parasite.This often times generates much argument among these two groups and their promoters.

Malaria is the commonest cause of ill health in the city where I reside; the reasons are;
Most residents have lost sense of responsibility in terms of waste disposal Most times parents and guardians intentionally allow under age children to dispose of refuse to no place in particular, knowing that such minors would never dispose same at the right place. Even adults themselves dump refuse along the roads, streets and other places with reckless abandon.
Allowing stagnant water and bushy surroundings is an invitation to this scourge. These are good breeding grounds for mosquitoes spread and infestation, and should be guarded against to ensure optimal health for all.
Fumigation - Depending on the chemical used, with the proper chemical and regular fumigation of residential areas and the city, mosquito would be kept at bay.
Supporting regular environmental sanitation, not necessarily waiting for the government and her agents to coerce and compel people to do the right thing.
Countless number of times I have had malaria attack, and the laboratory test done on me to determine the actual drug to use in treating the parasite came up to either capquine, camoquine among several others in the Quin Quine category.
On each time I came back to full sound health. Usually, with the test result, I get armed to approach the Medical Doctor at the the government Health care facility in the estate who commences treatment in Ernest.
After treatment, I do take necessary steps, though depending on resources availability to prevent further attack.
But as a rule, every member of my household or guest sleeps under the cover of a good and treated mosquito net.
