My Hometown in 10 pictures

Hi, My name is Kalu Richard Anyanso Edede I live in Aba Abia state Nigeria. And I'm here to share with you all my wonderful hometown Abiriba ( Small London as it's fondly called). Abiriba is located in Ohafia local government area in Abia state Nigeria. It is a great community with lots of friendly people. With a population of just about 4milion people we are bustling community ful of culture and traditions. I spent the whole if the day sightseeing and taking a tour of my village. It was an amazing experience and I'm here to share with you done of the beautiful sights I saw in my village today. The houses of some prominent men of my village.

Here are some of the sights and beautiful scenery in my village;

  • The ENACHIOKEN of Abiriba ancient kingdom:
    The Enachioken of Abiriba is what the Abiriba Royals called ekwu-eto, consisting of Eze Ameke "King of Ameke", as the leader (known as Enachioken), Eze Agboji "King of Agboji" (known as Iffa), Eze Amogudu "King Of Amogudu" (known as Ukpaghari and Eze Otisi Abiriba). Here are some the photos of these prominent men.

  • Abiriba Divisional Library.
    This is regarded as the first library in Abiriba built in 1979 served as the main library for educating the populace of Abiriba ancient kingdom. Although it has been left to ruin it still sevres as a landmark for Abiriba people.

  • Statue of an Abiriba warrior.
    The statue below depicts a typical Abiriba warrior ready for war to fight and defend Abiriba kingdom. With his cutlass he Is ready to kill any one that threatens the peace of Abiriba kingdom.

  • Some beautiful houses in Abiriba kingdom.
    These are some of the beautiful and aesthetic houses in my village built by some of the prominent men of my town. These buildings are a sign of the prosperity and progress of Abiriba people.

The first 3 storey building in my community. Built in 1923 has stood for close to a 100 years.

  • Abiriba central school
    The first school in Abiriba. Was established when the christian missionaries came brought christianity to my village. They built schools and several hospital in and around the community to better the lifes of the Abiriba populace. Over the years these structures have been maintained by communal effort.

  • Statue of a hunter warrior Ikemba .
    This is the statue of the great Ikemba, a very strong and prominent Abiriba warrior and hunter who led the village to many wars and always came back victorious.

  • Abiriba war dance
    This is a very popular dance performed by our soldiers to motivate and boost their morale when going for war

*Abiriba masquerade.
This is one of the many masquerade that reside in Abiriba kingdom. It's taken to be a symbol of the presence of the gods of Abiriba.

  • Itu- eye
    This is the traditional lawmaking process or ceremony. It is done when a new law needs to be made concerning the lives of the Abiriba people on how they interact with each other.

  • Abiriba carnival.
    This is carnival that is carried out every two years to celebrate the great Abiriba kingdom. It features several parades like the Abiriba umong that celebrate the prowess of Abiriba people at naval engagement and combats. It also celebrate our prowess at fishing.

  • Uluo Ena
    The official palace of the Ena of Abiriba. This is considered to be the white house of Abiriba kingdom as the president and his cabinet members meet here regularly.
