You would think that when you acquire everything your heart craves for; the mansions, beautiful, sleek cars, wear designer clothes and shoes, being up-to date with fashion trends, costly colognes you will be happy, satisfied and hence find the fulfilment you have always wanted. And then, you go in wild chase for those material possessions. After you have acquired all, state-of-the-art, classy things, hoping your life has finally found its niche. But then, you discover you’re still empty and void.

So then, what’s the meaning of life?

What's the meaning of life

Going by most biblical and contemporary definitions, happiness is a feeling that comes with the acquisition of monetary or material possession. Sound true though. I remember when I acquired my car, which knocked afterwards. Those times, there was this aura of calmness that enveloped me. However, when I lost it, I was back to where I was before I got the car.

This definition is incomplete, though. Does that go to say that people who do not have material possessions are not or cannot be a happy people?

That question is calling for two answers. The first is a yes, the second is a no!

Yes, because when there is availability of everything people wants to have, there seem to be a rest of mind or an assurance that one would be satisfied with that aspect of of life because needs have been met.

And the second is a no! In the sense that we are not always going to have everything we want. Therefore, our joy and happiness cannot and should not be quantified by what we possess.

Living and enjoying robust life and good health does not constitute having plenty money because you can have all of that and not be happy. You need something stronger, something more substantial and promising, something superior in quality. Something strong that oozes not from what we have but from even what we do not possess. Something that has supernatural easence, the God kind of power.

Finding fulfillment means getting to a point in your life when you tell yourself or decide in your mind with the help of the Holy Spirit, which is always our teacher to enjoy life and be our best with or without the supplies of monetary or material possession.

Life does not consist of all of that. Life consists of what we make of it whether we achieve financial materials or not.

What Do I Need To Stay Upbeat

Life does not meet or leave us at the levels of achievements we want. Sometimes, most times, it leaves us at cross roads; broke and needing help and support. It sometimes leave despondent, confused and not knowing what to do or where to go for help. We look back to where we are coming and see great opportunities that we have missed. When we look at friends, we realize how successful they have all become and we are still languishing or so it seems.

But that is the problem of the world today, the bane of our sufferings and feeling of despondency comes from the fact we compare ourselves with others.

Whenever we meet friends or come across mates with whom we schooled together or we attended the same class, maybe we had better grades in class during those times; we realize they have made far more progress than you. And then you look at yourself, trying to compare those times with your present situation. You cannot see or point at anything tangible to show for your years of hard work. Then, you begin to worry!

A man’s worth is not measured by the things he has acquired like wealth, cars, houses and other material possessions. The quality of a man is known by the measure of life he lives and share with the world around him.

You are not who you are or what you are by reason of your possession. What you do for others, the life you share with others is what counts, your influences, should testify on your behalf.

Tame your desires

Someone said there is no point aiming too high, but you can’t settle for less. You’ve got to think big. Dreamers rule the world. Those who live their dreams are the people who truly find peace and joy, being where you should be and doing the things you want to do.

There is no dream that’s too big, in fact, you’ve got to outsmart yourself in everything you do. Dream big, but you’ve got to learn to start small. That is the secret of success.

When you set goals, learn to follow them thoroughly to logical conclusions. As success comes in trickles. gradual attainment from one level to another.

We need to be joyful all the times because that is the only fuel that keeps a man going. Joy does not require anything to hinge its support on. Joy is about the only ingredient that is aloof, it stands out in spite of its aloneness.

Sometimes, we need to be alone in order to put our lives straight. And we must always know that life will not always give us what we want but it will definitely give us what we need. And it will be a duty for us to work what life provides us with to what we want it to be like in the end.

If what you have is not bread yet, you can turn it into seed so that you can have bountiful harvest in due season.
