On 3rd January 2016, my second daughter Joannah was to undergo two virginal Hernia surgery. It wasn’t a happy moment for everyone in my household. There were three patents that will undergo some kind of surgeries before her that same day. A night before the day for the surgery, Joannah developed a severe cough; we called the doctor and told him about Joannah’s health situation. His response was that we shouldn’t administer any form of medication.

Before hand we were told not to give her food or anything to drink. Being a human it wasn’t funny looking at my daughter coughing profusely, longing for food and something to drink all through that night. That night was the longest night all through my life. Fast forward to the day, we waited from morning till mid afternoon to get her turn to be taken to the theatre, I ran out of the hospital when it final got to her turn because I couldn’t withstand her cries, she was crying uncontrollably.

While I was away, the doctor came to my husband the second time for him to consent to give my daughter a second close of Anesthesia which will make her not to feel the pains while undergoing the surgery. Though before the doctor came out, my husband said, he heard Joannah’s cry loudly, that he became very alert, with the feeling that something might be wrong. So he immediately signed the documents for another dosage of anesthesia, the doctor ran back to the theater, but this time Joannah’s voice wasn’t heard again. My hubby doesn’t know my way about, so he bombard me with calls.

I never answered the calls because the fear of sad news over powered me. While in my hideout, I cried my eyes out. I later muster up courage to go back to the hospital. Looking so pale, she was only blinking her eyes, she signal for food, which I ran out to get. On my way to get food for Joannah, something like thick darkness covered my eyes, my eyes were wide open but I couldn’t see anything. I woke up on my bed at home, I was running temperature, a nurse suggested I ran a pregnancy test. The test was done, the result was positive.

The pregnancy wasn’t a funny journey because my severe backbone pains and severe headache, but I kept pushing till one faithful day. A miraculously got a relief.

It was on 19th October 2017, I have an appointment to visit a radio grapher but on 17th, the mid wife in the maternity where I registered for antenatal gave me a referral note for radio graphy (Scan). The day to visit the radio grapher came, I dressed up, while dressing I notice that my nail polish are pilled. I said to my self I needed retouch. I visited a nearby salon, on getting there all the stylish were busy, I asked the owner to help me with the nail polish, that I can do it by myself, so that I wont look rough. Since I can’t bend down because of the severe backbone and waist pains, I dragged a stool to my leg and place my leg on the stool to do the polishing.

Immediately, a lady from my home town saw me and said “since you have time to polish your nail, this pregnancy is gonna be a girl”. Within me it was divested and I sat down on the stool confuse and contemplating whether to continue my journey or not. You may wonder what the woman said go to me badly? yes I am a Nigerian. On Igbo to precise, in my culture male child is most valued. And my own case was so complicated because my hubby was the only son, So am expected to have more of male children. But the trip to the radio grapher was a must, then I proceed saying in my mind “what will be, will be”.

On getting to the clinic I met a receptionist, the receptionist (She) asked what they can do for me, I replied I need a service of a radio grapher. The radio grapher was signal, and I was called to come to his office. In the office I saw a radio grapher and a nurse. I was asked to lay in the bed and face upward. He was massaging my stomach, with something like a computer mouse.

Though the radio grapher was whispering to the nurse, I had him said “can you see their heart beat” I pretended not to heard him right, yes this is a boy pointing at a screen said the nurse. Immediately I couldn’t hold it any longer I said “doctor with my level of education there is a plural and you by any chance referring to me”? They busted into laughter, I wasn’t move by their laughter, because I longed for explanation, the doctor pleaded Mrs please forgive our matters, is this your first time to visit a radio grapher? I nodded, Mrs your pregnant with twins, one is male and the other is not clear, but by next month ran another check on yourself to ascertain other baby real sex. My joy knew no bound, I leaped out from the bed which I guess cannot leap.

The new of my pregnancy spread like a wide fire among my family members, everyone was happy, there birth wasn’t too stressful because both came out alive. I named the first boy; JAMARANKEKAMMA it means JAH KNOWS THE BEST. The second boy was named; JAHNEDUM which mean JAH IS MY LEADER.
