I am from Igboland where tradition is well respected. When you talk about traditional marriage is what legalized you as husband and wife to live together, if not people around you may use it to mock you Untill you do the traditional marriage.

In my place Umuaku Ntu in Ngor Okpala. Before a lady is given out in marriage.There must be this thing we call Iju-Esi. (Making Inquiries), This process is to know the background of the person if is a bonifide member of the community or an outcast. After this we go for collection of list. After the collectection of list we proceed to paying of dowry /Introduction.

We welcome our inlaws so well. So before the husband to be is given list he must come with witness which will include the parents and some elders. Then this list will be given to them.

• 10creats of minerals.
• 10 packets of cigarettes
• Raw snuff
• 10bottles of seaman
• 10 creats of beer
• 50 tubers of yam
• 2 big lamp
• 5 packets of matches.
• 5 Goats.
• wrappers
• Echolac traveling bag.
• big basin
• 100 thousand naira cash. Etc.

_{Greeting attire}

In my place we wear the first cloth for greeting. This first cloth can be wrapper and beed or gwon. After the greeting the wife goes back to change to the main cloth of which she sew uniform with the husband. And carry drink to search for the husband. When she sees the husband two of them will go to parents of the wife for blessing. This is how is been done.

During Traditional marriage in my place we serve, ugba (oil bean), Garden egg, kola, rice, melon soup with ukazi, Then music can be life band or DJ. Is choice. Cloth is also choice. Like mine I chossed blue and white.

After the marriage ceremony the wife packs her bag and go home with the husband. If the decides to do white wedding is left for them.The couples goes home with thier gift. And that's the end of traditional marriage.

Marriage is a very sweet union. Though is not 100 percent bed of roses. Sometime is full of ups and down. But it take understanding and patient to win. Thanks for paying attention to my story.
