Preface
Mothers are the most closest beings to their children, they're inseperable and that bond between those two is indescribable. Just as the umbilical cord joins a mother and her foetus in the wom and can only be separated during the birth of the child, so is the union between a mother and her child/children.
To illustrate this saying better, here is an imaginary story. It's not just interesting but teaches moral lessons as well.
Ekene's plight
The maidens piled out dancing vigorously to the rhythms of the drum beats, their waist beads moved alongside their steps. In their midst was the bride, dressed ceremoniously, adorned in golden jewelries, face beamed with smiles as her eyes met her desire, her would-be-husband, soon she'll be a married woman and the scorn will be lifted off.
She lived an happy life as a wife, discharging her marital duties effectively. But alas! She couldn't get pregnant. After 5 years, she senses everything wasn't okay and action must be taken. She alongside her husband visited many hospital and it was confirmed that they were both okay and fertile. But what could be the problem? No one knows.
Ekene soon clocked 46 years and feared menopause might come knocking on her door soonest. She had resigned to her fate and decided to live the rest of her life as a barren woman, the issue of Adoption never crossed her mind. Fred was just so supportive as well.
Joy at dawn
And there she was on the hospital stretcher hurried to the surgical room for the caeserean operation to take place. Fred wasn't permitted to join them into the room, there he was pacing up and down with words of prayer emanating from his lips intermittently.
The doctors had said that Ekene had no strength to push a baby and further trial might lead to loosing both so he had no option than to sign the necessary documents so the operation could be carried out, Atleast God had remembered them at the diminute and this opportunity mustn't be thrown in the drain.
The shrill cry of an infant was heard from afar. A new born baby with such a loud tender cry? Fred was excited that he forcefully rushed into the room to see things for himself. He saw a carbon copy of himself, what a proud father he was. He was sure to clear all bills, his face glowed as he took what was rightly his back home.
But the doctor had told them never to expect another life from that womb. The couples were still grateful anyways, atleast they've got one they could call their own
A mother's love
Alex grew up to cute boy, he was a replica of his father but he developed a chronic illness and had to live on drugs fro the rest of his life. What a mystery!
It got to a point where they had to spend 58% of their income on the boy's medications. Therefore Fred had to work full-time in another state to be able to cater for his family and this continued for a long time.
At age 12, a complication occured, the family doctor was summoned and he arrived in a jiffy. After series of tests and x-rays, it was discovered that Alex's kidney had been badly affected by the chronic illness.
One part of the kidney had to be changed immediately else the little boy will loose his life, the doctor made it clear that no random kidney could replace Alex own, he feared Alex might give up anytime soon.
Ekene almost fainted, she offered to donate one of her kidneys to save her son, she can survive with one. They were both rushed to the hospital where she alerted Fred and told him everything before she was taken to the surgery room for the kidney transplant.
Everything worked out well and Alex lived to remember his mom's willingness to die on his behalf. God kept Ekene and she grew to a ripe old age reaping the reward of her labour.
Postface

You are right. The love and sacrifice of a mother can be seen even in the animal kingdom. Liones, Mother Hen, Dogs, Elephants and Hippos can give their lives for their kids.
We really don't need a specific day set aside to honor or show love to our mothers, it should be done every day.
Great write up from you @precious123.

Yes dear, every child seems to love their mother, especially when she's a good woman. I don't know why most children seems to love their mother than their father just because she was the one who carried the child in her womb for 9 months. Anyway I want to say congrats to all mothers around the world.
