Hello steemians, today I want to share with everyone how I spent my day by producing palm oil with my sister. I visited the village yesterday and today I am processing palm fruit into red oil. I will share with everyone how it is done here.
It all starts from the reception of the palm fruit from the plantations. The palm fruit must be ripe before harvesting it and then processing it into crude red oil.
In my Africa there are different ways to carry the bunches of palm fruit home. You can carry it in baskets on the head or you can use truck to carry the bunches down onto the ground. You have to be careful while bringing it down to avoid bruises.
After heating the palm fruit and pounding it in a big motar. We put it in a big basin together with the kernel and the chaff.
Me and my sister start separating the palm kernel and palm fruit chaff. We did it manually with our hands. Some people use machines to separate this two things.
This is were we put the palm fruit chaff in a big pot.
This is the basin we put the palm kernel. We added water to the basin so we wash the kernel and extract some oil from it.
After we have separated the palm kernel and the chaff. We washed the kernel inside the basin with the water we added and put the kernel in a big basket to drain water.
This is my sister extracting some oil from the water she use in washing the kernel. And you can see the kernel inside the big basket.
We put the palm fruit chaff in the pot on fire to heat and melt some blocked oil. This is the pot on fire heating for some minutes.
We brought down the pot of chaff after it has heated for some minute. We look for a bag were we can put the chaff to press out the oil. We put the palm fruit chaff in the big.
This is the engine we are using to press out or extract the oil from the chaff.
We lose the engine, put the bag of hot chaff on it and lock it to extract. We turn the engine handle to bring out oil from chaff. We set a basin under the engine were the oil can enter.
This is the oil we produce today me and my lovely sister. Red and fresh oil for cooking and producing other wonderful things.
Hope you all like my post, thanks for the upvotes and comments. Have a wonderful day.
