INTRODUCTION

Hello dear friends accept greetings from my end and welcome to my blog. Today I will be sharing with you all an end of year cultural festival which took place in my area few weeks ago

FEHACU 2021

FEHACU (Festival of Heritage Arts and Culture) is a cultural festival been organised in the Nkewn village area by the Fon and municipal heads to display our cultural values, learn and keep them. It also has the inclusion of people living with disabilities to remind them we are all one and share love with them. Some months before the several activities were carried out geared towards the festival like advertisements on all social media platforms TVs and radio stations, search for sponsors, preparation of ceremonial ground (the palace), registration of artists, dance groups, people to showcase their arts and crafts and food all portraying the culture of Bamenda people. I too got registered to showcase beaded items and got a stand for my stuff

On the day of the event which was 26th November I went to the palace all dressed in my traditional atires and displayed my items. The things were do many so it took me about an hour to do this.

Normally everyone was to go and welcome all the dignitaries from the entrance to the village and match up to the palace. It was an exciting moment seeing everyone dance in traditional atires for the event. We match up to the palace and everyone found a place under the canopies to shade from sun while exhibitors moved to their stands.

While waiting for the Governor to arrive there were some presentation from artists. The songs presented so amazing as they were talking about living in unity, peace and love. Others focused on adhering to our cultural heritage and never forget our doors. While this was going on there was evaluation of all exhibition stands for the prize award. After about an hour the Governor arrived and so the event started. There were speeches from the mayor, Fon, Governor and other dignitaries present. After the Governor's speech there was visiting to all the exhibition stands and they were amazed at all the items displayed and fortunately I got to sell some of my items which were really traditional to the dignitaries. I was happy I made about 100steem.

Later there was presentation of songs from some groups, presentation a drama in the vanicullar, traditional dances, miss FEHACU fashion parade and lastly award of prizes to the winners and an envelope of about 20 steem to each exhibitor. I came third and didn't receive a prize as just the 1st was awarded. I was so happy I well to that level and I was with my beads trainer for the exhibition so you can imagine my dear but I still made it above her. That was a great start for me and I got the chance to be interviewed by so TV channels and radio stations so I could explain to them what I do and my passion.

CONCLUSION

At the end of the two days event it felt so good portraying my talents to the world. I felt so happy making new contacts at the festival. Also this festival is a unique one as in years since we have crisis in my region no activity as such has ever been organised for fear of any violence. But God Almighty being so great made it possible and we hope to have it next year and I am highly anticipating it too.
