Here it is, our 2 day road trip in the new SsangYong Musso, we had the pick up for 7 days and we thought wouldn't it be great to really demo the Musso's skillset.

Therefore we sourced a car trailer and setup a date to collect our Mercedes Benz from our former partners.

As you'll see from the video, we had a potential stowaway Cabie the Cat, we jettesoned hom and loaded up, and started our road trip VLOG.

The Musso is a pickup built on the Rexton platform and runs a 2.2 Diesel Turbo engine coupled to a 6 speed automatic, the price is £38,000 plus VAT.

The trip documents our adventures and we talk about how the vehicle drives with the trailer, loads and unladen.

Loading the car was interesting as the tires were flat and the Merc, Dorothy is RWD, meaning she slid abit when loading, all good fun, all we can say is we were very happy to have a winch.

The pickup towed the car with ease and got to AutoSport where we could peruse the show and get some footage.

The Musso is fantastic and features p/t AWD selectable with a dial it also has descent control.

Are the SsangYong vehicles popular there? It seemed here only a few got sold and they weren't highly regarded. It's hard to go past the Toyota Hilux, Ford Ranger and Izusu D-max here it seems. Just wondering as I recall they were (are?) Mercedes Benz engineered?

They are in certain markets primarily SUV's for caravanning. Here the contenders are Ranger, L200, Navara, D Max and new to the market the Musso, X Class is a niche - The older models ran the gearbox we have in our W124, now they make their own engines.

It's interesting you don't list Hilux as one of the main contenders.

It's strange, @galenkp - we don't see many Hilux's now (especially where we live, lol) it's mainly L200's and Defenders, so it didn't pop into our heads to list one!

Kind of weird considering how popular they are here. They are always fighting it out agains Ranger for top spot. (I love me a defender though..., So cool, but probably not the most comfortable thing to ride in.)
