Happy weekend ladies...

Yes, it one of my local delicacy meal known as Atama Abak. Some people called it Banga Soup or Abak but all depends on the tribe. Am glad to share this amazing and delicious meal with you, on this week DIY contest hosted by @ngoenyi.

The first step is to have all the necessary things that will make up the meal, an healthy one. Things such as;

  • Atama leaf (dry)

  • Cowskin

  • Fish

  • Periwinkle

  • palm fruit

  • Beef

  • Crayfish

  • Seasoning cubes, Onions, Salt and pepper

Method of preparation

✓ Wash up the palm fruit thoroughly 3-4time , put inside the pot and place on the fire for 45minute. Open the pot, use eatable spoon to remove one, use your right finger, press and check if the fruit is soft enough to be pound. If its not, allow for more minutes but if it is soft, remove the pot from the fire.

✓ With filter, drain out the water and then put the fruit inside a mortar and begin to pound. > Note, the process is smoothly achieve when the palm fruit is till very hot.

✓ Using warm water, I squeeze out the oil from the pounded fruit inside a pot and discard the kennel and the chaff.

✓ Wash the beef, fish, Periwinkle, cowskin into another pot. Add seasoning cubes, slice onions, pepper, salt and place on fire for 2minute. Take some of the squeeze water, add on the stock pot and allow for another 5minute.

✓ Pour in the stock into the pot containing the squeeze water and place the pot on fire. Stir it to know the level of all the ingredients, then spread crayfish on top of the water and allow the pot open for it to boil.

✓ Make sure you allow the pot to boil untill the soup become very tick. This is the only way, you get it right.

✓ Add the Atama leaf, stirr and allow for 2minute. Then off the light. The meal is ready to be consume.

Cooking is a way of proving myself as the best chef. Anytime I want to prepare food, I try to bring out the best in me as a woman. The meal is an healthy food. It has different ways of preparation to different people and is one of the meal that goes well with White rice apart from swallow.

For swallowing, the soup matches with fufu, Semovita, Amala, Garri etc. for this particular one that am about to enjoy, am using cassava flour.

Atama soup is one of my favorite local soup, especially when I use it to eat with white rice, very delicious. This look so yummy I must confess, I wish I know your location I would have visited you for the first time 😀. I wish you success in the contest
