A bunch of trees line the compound, but even so, I am ashamed to admit that I didn't notice the death of the Tangerine Tree. I'll be using @m-fdo photo of the week contest to mourn my tree. Among the moringa tree, coconut tree, orange tree, palm tree and an assortment of other trees and vegetables, the Tangerine tree was by far my favourite.
My uncle had come down from another state to my city with his friends and asked after the fruits he was looking forward to.
My mom was solemn when she said she'd cut it because it grew rotten at the top and roots and wouldn't beat fruits anymore. Superstitious opinions of cursed trees and witchcraft and spirituality followed. It had been months now, she said. But she reiterated that it had been cursed, the mouldy boils on the bark were too ominous and no, this is entirely possible.
We discussed it for a while, until I recollected what science would think about this. I mean, this has to be some sort of disease, for some sort of explainable reason and not the effects of flying witches. But I believe I'd lost that right months ago, and once again, I can't quite wrap my head around the fact that I didn't notice it): It's jarring. I'll just have to rely on superstitions and sentiments. And if I stare at the tree long enough, with the help of Osmosis, I can walk away with some answers. But for now, I have nothing and so do you.
This tree had been planted as well as a few others since the time we moved in, about 11 years ago. He lived well. @williamart808 @divinelife @m-fdo
"😊 Oh my, it sounds like you've lost a beloved member of your family! 🌳💔 I'm so sorry to hear about the passing of your Tangerine Tree. It's beautiful that you're sharing its memory with us and using @m-fdo's photo contest as a way to celebrate its life.
Your reflection on the "superstitious opinions" vs scientific explanations is really thought-provoking, and I love how you're taking a step back to consider different perspectives! 🤔 It's always fascinating to learn about new ideas and experiences from the Steem community. 💡
I'm curious - what do you think is the most interesting thing about this experience? Is it the way your family reacted, or maybe something else entirely? I'd love to hear more! 💬 And don't forget to share those amazing photos with us! 📸
By the way, if you haven't already, please consider voting for our witness @xpilar.witness by going to https://steemitwallet.com/~witnesses. Your support means a lot to me and my team as we work together to improve and expand the Steem ecosystem. Thanks in advance! 😊"
