Women they say make the world go round. This is not just a quote, I experienced it first hand as we celebrated our sister's /women's day and if you're conversant with how women's day is run, you'll know that the women are left to do everything concerning service that day.
You know how women can be petty and show disinterest in a thing if it doesn't favour them ??? 😂😂This was the situation we faced as we started preparations for the women's day. A lot of sisters were forming busy, and unavailable, yet we persisted with the planning.
Even I at some point got weary and almost fled, but I was held back by the ropes that had held me😂.
A week to the meeting, we hadn't rehearsed our songs, hadn't appointed people who were going to take up serious responsibility in various positions...oh it was looking a mess😭😭.
Anyways we gathered the 10 sisters who were present and willing and went to work with them... This singular act taught me to never focus on what could have been but to focus on what is available and use it to work towards the future i anticipate.
Finally the day arrived and I was super pumped as I was the moderator of the event, but this type of moderating didn't need me to be up on the stage for long. Oh I was excited😂😂.
I woke up as early as I could, took my bath and all essentials and started hurrying to church. Since I was moderating the service I was more like the time keeper so I had to be around before the service started.
I got to church on time and started organising everything as most of us hadn't yet arrived only to find out that the song that had been chosen was not a well known song. Even the back ups didn't know the song😂😂😂. I felt like crying.
When the song was finally changed to one everybody knew and could sing, I found out that the games section of the program hasn't been set up. The materials to be used for the games were not available. The person responsible for getting word out for them had either forgotten to or something 😭😭. I honestly didn't know how to feel. Of curry we started re strategizing all over again and this was 15 minutes to the program proper😭😭😭😭.
What a morning I was already having 🥺🥺. Wheew😢.
The program began exactly by 8:35am and surprisingly started going well.
Every speaker mounting the podium delivered excellently. You needed to see the atmosphere. It was alive with excitement, laughter and happiness especially when we played the game called " knot a tie"
Here, 2 guys were randomly selected and asked to sit down on a chair that was brought out, then 2 ladies also randomly selected were asked to knot a tie around the guys necks. What a time of fun that was. Some knotted the tie perfectly, some tied the guys necks in the name of knotting a tie😂.
We also did another game called draw your sword. This was a game where some ladies were selected and asked to open a verse of the bible and read. Whoever got there first and read out loud, would be declared the winner.
It was really a sword drawing out venture as some sisters didn't even know where a scripture was.
This was how we moved steadily onto the word ministration which was hot and then the choir rendition. Ohhhh you needed to see how the church sang and danced along with us as we rendered a piece titled "Omemmma - meaning Good God" by a Christian gospel minister named Chandler Moore.
Everywhere was agog with singing, dancing, thanksgiving. The men and children danced alongside us as the women choir of which I was among rendered this piece.
We sang and sang for about 10 minutes to the glory of God for a successful women's day not minding the hurdles we had faced earlier.
This signaled the end of service and then we stepped out of our church hall to take pictures. O what accolades we kept receiving 😄.
Even people who had come for the first time walked up to me and told me how they had thoroughly enjoyed the service.
When it was time to take pictures, guess whattt???. The sisters who had avoided us and didn't want to take part in the planning or any part of the service started rushing towards us. All of a sudden they now wanted to become a part and identify with us. It was so funny to watch. We of course accepted them with open hands, but tis alos taught me a lesson about life generally and this is what i learnt:
By whatever means godly, strive to be a success in whatever you are doing. If you do, even those who spoke against you and rejected being a part of your story will come to share in your success.
What a world we live in. Anyways, enjoy the pictures we took.
Did I fail to mention?????. I met one of my steemit mentors at church @ruthjoe and she looked exceptionally amazing.
See the brothers, excitedly enjoying our service and seriously planing their own Men's day service.
It is coming up on the 3rd of November and I can't wait to be thoroughly blessed by what they come up with.
Note: All pictures were taken with my church camera and are all mine. @talktofaith @hyacinthfavour and @pandoradiary are invited to participate In this contest.
