This is my participation in a contest Romeo and Juliet organized in Steem For Ladies by @steemladies.
Let me tell a folk/tale related to our Pushton tribe, which is very famous in our literature. Even calling it a tale or folk would be somehow inappropriate, because many people believe that this happened in reality. The story is about two lovers, so we can easily relate it to Romeo and Juliet. Let's get started.

The story tittle is Sher Alam and Mamunai, the two prominent character of the story. Mamunai is the most beautiful lady of the entire village and marrying her is the dream of many. She has one dreamer amoung these and his name is Sher Alam. Sher Alam is Mamunai's cousin, her aunt's son.
It is said that Sher Alam isn't a handsome, neither a smart or educated. Still he is lucky enough to marry Mamunai. Mamunai on the other being the most beautiful woman of the entire village didn't even care her husband is ugly or not smart. She didn't even notice such stuff. She really loves her husband and care him very much. The same Sher Alam also loves her very much too.
Time is passing by and this couple are having a good life. But their is one thing they always face from the society and that is jealousy. Everyone in the society is jealous of Sher Alam that he is not handsome and why he has the most beautiful girl of the entire village his spouse. People can't digest that. They can't see Sher Alam and Mamunai have a healthy.
We Pathan have a Hujra system. Hujra mean, a place where all the male of the village come, talking and gossiping and have meal together. It's a kind of guests house. Sher Alam is in one of the village Hujra, where they run out of tobacco. He send one of his friends, go and bring some tobacco of my house. Tell my wife I am asking it, she will give you. The friend do it so.
Next day Sher Alam had a querl with someone in the village. That boy taunts sher Alam go away you are fighting with me and your wife is distributing free tobacco whole night amoung the boys of the village. You should be ashamed of your masculinity. Sher Alam become furious by listening it. He straight away comes home and ask his wife, have you really given tobacco to someone yesterday night? Mamunai says in a frightening voice, yes. He was your friend and he told me you sent him to bring tobacco from my home.
Sher Alam goes to the kitchen and take out a digger/knife from there. Mamunai seeing this in his hand asking Sher Alam, what are you doing my beloved? are you killing me? Sher Alam says Yes, I am killing you. Mamunai says what is my mistake my beloved, that guy was sent by you last night, how I am guilty for it. Sher Alam don't listen any accuse of her and cut her throat. This happen to the two beloved just because people were getting jealous of their happy marital life.
It is said that this is a true story and a place still exist where Mamunai's throat was cut. It's a kind of small rain water lake. Some people say she was shuttered on a giant rock present there. We Pushton have a very famous Tapa( traditional song) related to this story. Mamunai Hala weena, Taknra garmaa da kana

The story of Sher Alam and Mamunai is really sad. It shows how jealousy can cause big problems, even in a loving marriage. It's like a warning to be careful of how we treat others and not let jealousy ruin good things. It's a story that makes us think about trust and how we treat each other.
