Hello my dear Steemians,

Today I wanted to write for this contest that is running by @patjewell, here is the link if you are also interested:

Italian: “Arrivederci”

  • Part1: Grandma

I love to visit my grandma, because she always was telling my a lot of different stories from her youth time. I probably heard all of them, often she is repeating herself but I always listen with a lot of interest like it is for the first time. She enjoys a company and a listener, maybe that brings her in her best years and also makes her to feel not alone. That someone needs her and her life story.

I visit my grandma on Fridays because it is the end of week and I have enough time I do not need to hurry up to do my homework and if on some days it is too late then I simply stay over night with her. There is always a room with bed and all necessary hygiene stuff just in case and I love these days when I stay there.

That was another Friday and another day for the story of my grandma. This time she told me about her trip to Italy when she and her schoolmates were 17 years and that was a trip during their summer holiday with last school gathering. Actually she mentioned that she did not plan to join trip but last minute the holiday that her parents planned was cancelled due to her father’s work and she then decided to join her friends and this way to have a little bit of Holiday. She has not been to Italy before and was very excited.

  • Part2: “Arrivederci”

The whole trip was a lot of fun my grandma and her friends were laughing the way through. Finally after hours of drive on tourist bus they arrived. It was a small farmer’s barn that was turned into summer hostel for such young teens from school. The owner was very nice elderly man and he had a son in the age of my grandma that time.

When she saw him she immediately fell in love with him. He was typical Italian, dark curly hair and such beautiful dark eyes. Italian sun made great job his skin was nicely suntanned. The young man was friendly and was smiling looking at my grandma directly into her eyes, it felt like he also found her interesting. Later that day they managed to escape and have some time together. The young boy did not speak English and she did not speak Italian, but that was not a problem for them to be the whole time together.

The week went very quickly and it was time to say Good bye. He came to the bus and once again they were together, he was holding her hand and looking into her eyes said in Italian: “Arrivederci”, my grandma knew that she will never see him again...

I would like to invite @saimaqasim, @joan-na and @uzma4882 for this contest

Thank you for participating…..

Italians have their own charm, our grandmothers often tell us stories and we are always interested in listening to them, that is history, even though it has the same story but the place, time and conditions are different...

Yes, it is often some interesting stories from our grandparents when we are children we love to listen them, I always was fascinated by those stories and remember my grandma telling me some almost every day. Thank you for verification :)

Your story tells us that language should not be a barrier to loving one another. Even if we cannot show our affection verbally, we can do so emotionally through our eyes.
Good luck with the contest.

Yes, love does not have language of words but of our glance, smile and emotion and that is the same in any culture and nation.

Have a nice day my sweet daughter.

Love... It doesn't know a language.
If the image of the Italian in your post looked like the one your gradma met, I can understand why she spent some time with him.
One look and I would have been totally lost. (•ิ‿•ิ)

Thank you for taking part in this week's contest.

Best wishes!

Hi @patjewell, just noticed your comment while checking for the new contest. Yes, love is the power and often in our young age the experiences remain forever in our mind. You know, often it is said that love often makes people "blind" we love with our heart and often even though some people look ordinary for us the person will be the most beautiful person on the world. I think this image could represent an ideal Mediterranean type so in my thought the friend of my grandma was looking like that :) Thank you for reading and nice comment :)
