Razor is a keen-edged knife of peculiar shape, used in shaving the hair from the same or other parts of the body.

Generally, razors are used for shaving hairs(facial hairs, armpits, pubic areas, legs, etc). It can be used to replace some other things. Once, I have used a razor to clean some dirt off the floor after refusing to mop it clean.

Common misconceptions about shaving with Razors

• Don't shave because it causes the hair to grow back faster. If you don't shave, what will you do then? First, how quickly your hair grows depends on your body system and genetics. The way the hair on your armpit grows is not the same like the hairs on your legs grow. It differs from a man to a woman. Another thing is, if your hairs naturally grow faster, there is a high chance that the hairs you shave would grow fast too.

• Using a dull razor reduces the cuts and burns. This is totally false, shaving with a dull razor blade is like citing a grass with a blunt cutlass. It will cause you to go over a spot for an area repeatedly to get the hairs out. This in turn will leave burns and little cuts in the process. Using a sharp razor makes the shaving easy and better for your skin.

• Shaving every day is bad: This depends on the individual. You can either shave every day or a few weeks/months if you are comfortable with it. For ladies, it is bad because the skin is sensitive, so it is advisable to shave weeks apart but for guys, you can afford to shave your beards every day.

• Shaving an area repeatedly times will not make the area spotless. It will only cause you pain and It only indicates that you need to change your razor to a new one.

Advantages of shaving with razors

1. Shaving especially as a lady makes you neater and smarter.
2. Shaving reduces sweats and itching which could lead to scratching it, swells, and open pores.
3. With the lack of sweating, it reduces the risk of body odor.
4. It reduces the risk of bacteria from living and growing under your armpits reducing infections.
5. Using razors yourself reduces the cost that you will spend going to a store to have the hair removed.

Disadvantages of shaving with razors

1. Shaving causes severe itching. This is none part I hate about shaving because it goes on for up to 3-5 days. Sometimes, I even consider not shaving because I hate this. If there is a way I can avoid this, I would.
2. Sharing causes cuts. I've cut myself a few times while shaving because the razor was either too sharp or I repeatedly shaved a particular spot.
3. Having cuts could lead to a bacterial infection causing other problems that you have to treat.
4. Shaving takes utmost attention to do and if you are not attentive you may make mistakes.

How often should you change your blade? As often as you can. In my location, disposal razors are sold for less than 0.8 Steem which you can get at any store around. If it gets dull, you only hurt your skin. If you are using a good razor where you have to change only the head at least twice after shaving. Before or after shaving, store your razor in a day, it could be your cupboards or bags where you store your stuff. Leaving it where it will get wet would only make it easy to accumulate bacteria and germs.
