What is Paralysis?

Dear friends, the paralysis is a medical condition which causes the loss of muscle movements in different parts of body such as in arms, legs and head etc. The paralysis can be temporary or permanently because it happens due to loss of connection of brain with muscles due to the damage of nervous system. As we know that, our brain controls the functions of our body and different parts of it. But when that connection damage due to injuries, stroke and other medical condition, it leads towards the paralysis.

A few years ago, my grandma has died because of paralysis as she fell in the washroom, her head hit on the floor which resulted in the damage of her spinal cord which affected the connection between muscle and brain. In the paralytic condition, she was unable to move, speak and walk because his legs, arms and mouth were paralysed. We took her to different doctors and medical specialties but within a few months, she died in fighting with paralysis.

Write about its types?

Yes the paralysis can be found in different types on the basis of its causes, affects on body and treatment. But their severity vary from person to person depending on the types of paralysis and its symptoms. So let's discuss about some of the types of paralysis.

1. Locked In syndrome:

  • It is a rare but severe type of paralysis because its severity can make a person unconscious and in that condition he even can't move any part of his body. In that condition, the patient can't see the things around him but can't move a bit. It is caused by the damage of brainstem.

2. Monoplegia;

  • It is a very common type of paralysis because in it affects one part of the body i.e limb such as one hand, one leg and arm etc. In this condition, the other parts of body work and move freely expect the paralyzed one. It occurs during the severe head injuries, stroke and damage of nerves.

3. Hemiplegia;

  • It is another type of paralysis which affects one whole side of body such as both legs and arm of one side either left or right. In that condition, the patients can't perform activities with the paralyzed leg and arm and he can't move freely. It is also caused by the damage of nerves.
How long it takes to recover from paralysis?

There are various factors involved in the recovery of paralysis such as the condition and the severity, type of paralysis, age of patients and overall health condition. All these factors can play a vital role in the recovery of paralysis but in my life I have very rare cases of patients who recovered from parallel. This is because the recovery of nerves damage and the spinal cord, take a lot of time and it may lasts from weeks to months and from months to years.

To cure the paralysis, at first the recovery of damaged nerves start because the main cause of paralysis is nerve damage. But the temporary paralysis recover quickly than the permanent paralysis. These both condition can be recovered quirky after getting to know the real cause. But the other one's take a lot of time, cure from special doctors such as neurologists and others.
