Hello, fellows union my name is Asad, a food technologist, and a Food science graduate from Bahauddin Zakaria University Multan today I am here to participate in a contest named Fast Food and Health, organized by @abdullahw2.

In today's world when fast food becomes a mandatory part of our lives, I am here to discuss some important facts from which we can make our life healthier. Fast food is consumed most in the world (more in Developed Nations than developing states), due to their taste, and the availability of 24/7 with no hard work. Fast food no doubt tastes much better than a meal cooked at home, but on the other side it has health impacts that domestic food doesn't have.

Frequency of Eating Fast Food:

I am eating fast food at least once a week, sometimes it reaches two times a week. In my workplace, when all employees order something collectively than we almost order fast food due to its taste.

Favorite Fast Foods:

Following are my favorite fast foods:

  • Pizza
  • Zinger
  • French Fries
  • Pasta
  • Wraps

Biggest Health Risks Associated with Fast Food:

In my point of view, the biggest health risks and health diseases associated with fast food are obesity diabetes, and cardiac diseases. The people who are eating fast food we do for times in a week or more prone to obesity and cardiac diseases. The fast food we eat is calorie dense, has unhealthy fats and high amounts of sugar and salt in them according to their nature so this would indirectly impact our body and make us heart patients, obese, and a diabetic patient.

Can Fast Food be Made Healthier?

In my point of view, yes, first food can make us Healthier if certain conditions are applied. Fast food is also made from food raw material that is not dangerous for our health, so we can make it better by some arrangements.

For example, restaurants can shift to whole grain flour for pizza doughs, and for bread buns, they can shift their focus more on adding veggies in fast foods instead of adding more sauces.

My personal Approach:

As a food Scientist, I know the harms that fast food is causing nowadays so I chose for myself a balanced approach. I almost eat homemade food about 75% and sometimes eat fast food about 25% a week. I am also picky on these 25%, as I almost chose sandwiches full of veggies. I avoid using food with more cheese and sauces. In my approach, if I ate pizza in my lunchtime then after that at least 1, or 2 days, I will only eat homemade food to minimize the fast food impact.

Conclusion:

Thank you all fellow members for reading my post. I seek support from all of you. I am inviting my fellow member’s @mun-eeb @stef1, and @anailuj1992 to join this contest and share their opinions.

Warm regards,
Asad
