First of all let's talk about what a wound is. A wound is a type of injury that causes damage to our body or skin. I am sure we've all experience what a wound is in one way or the other. It is either you have cut on your hand or you've had an accident before or you've hit a part of your body on a hard surface which will result to pain or injury.

The most common wounds that we usually have is a cut from knife especially the women. We women in one way or the other must have had an accident in the kitchen where we cut our hands accidentally while cooking. Wounds can be on our skin, inside our body or as a result of a surgical operation. For example we can have a wound that occurs when there are tissues break down often due to infection inside our body.

There are different causes of wound which include accident, surgery, infections, burns, conditions like diabetes, ulcer etc. When you have signs like pains in any part of your body, bleeding, swelling or redness, that is as a result of the wound that you have.

Sometimes we have a light wound and sometimes we have a deep wound. The light wounds doesn't require much care but the deep wound requires appropriate care and attention.

HOW TO CARE FOR DEEP WOUND

Deep wounds requires attention and proper wound care techniques to promote healing and prevent infection. Below are some measures I would take if I have a deep wound:

  1. If I have deep cut, the first thing I do is to apply a little pressure to the wound using a clean cloth to stop the bleeding.

  2. The next thing I do is to clean the wound with cool or look-warm water and a mild soup.

  3. At this point you need to have an antibiotic in the house in case of home accidents. I always have methylated spirit in my house. At this point you will need to apply an antibiotic to the wound to help prevent infection.

  4. This is the point where I cover my wound with a bandage to protect it from dirts, sometimes if you don't have a bandage just cut a clean cloth and use it to wrap around the wound just to keep it covered.

NOTE:
You have to keep caring for your wound on a daily basis. Change the dressing whenever it becomes weight, apply wound gel or cream, monitor the wound to watch against infection and also take pain medication to manage discomfort.

If after all these and there is no improvement, you need to visit a medical practitioner. Also if you are not sure about how to care for a deep wound just seek medical attention immediately.

I enjoyed reading your post, simple and informative. Your four steps, applying pressure on the wound to stop bleeding, cleaning the wound with warm water, taking antibiotics, and bandaging the wound, are practical. I feel bandages should be changed daily, and the wound be properly dressed daily. I wish you all the best in this contest, my dear friend.
