From my side of view, Food preservation can be said to be an applied method of food treatment and trying to slow down or put a stop to food spoilage, edibility and quality loss, thereby permitting more longer food storage.

To futher explain, it involves the way we handle and treat and our food to prevent or slow down food spoilage, keep the color, flavor, texture and it's original nutritional values.

  • To eliminate germs:
    Once you apply the method of storing your food appropriately, there's no way germs will be found therin. Proper storage aids to good health, side from that we can easily contact bacterials through an exposed food.

  • To keep microbiological contamination at bay:
    Microbiological substances are very dangerous to our body, it can cause seviere health issues, therefore try no to expose your food to them. Keep your food safe and let those cintaminators stay at bay.

  • To reduce food deterioration and poisoning:
    Do you know that some microorganisms that contract the food can result to food poisoning? You have to store your food tightly closed to avoid the polluted environment from contaminating your food.

LIST AND EXPLAIN ANY FIVE METHODS YOU USE TO PRESERVE FOOD

In my content below, i will start by explaining the olden method of preservation then add a few method method, see below;

Smoking: When Smoking is applied, it helps prevents dehydration and Amy deteriorates in meat and fish. Making use of Wood smoke which has antimicrobial chemicals in high concentration, that aids to the rancidification of the animal fats.

Heat and Cold Methods: The method of Boiling and then chilling the food abstains it from any bacteria growth. There are some little microorganisms that can't be able to withstand high temperatures, so they are been killed by boiling. Therefore aiding in food preservation.

Salting: Salting is the an applied method of preserving our food with salt. For instance, fruits can be longer preserved by salting them, it can also be used in the preservation of fish and meats.

Sugar: Another method of preservation is sugar, which is the preservative found in jams and jellies. Sugar is a good moisture absorber, it inhibits any microbial development therefore reducing moisture contents.

Refrigerating: This served method of preservation is commonly used in our modern world today. It helps to keep away germs and microorganisms that might develop in the food, thereby keeping it cool and reserved.
