Hello wonderful steemians. I am here to participate in this contest in @healthystem organised by @kursheedanwar titled: Dehydration.
Dehydration is a condition caused by the loss of too much fluid from the body. It occurs when the body is losing too much fluid than you are taking in, and the body doesn't have enough fluid to work properly.
Dehydration occurs during the dry season or summer. In this period the weather becomes hot and the body loses a lot of water through sweat or urine making the body dehydrated. Dehydration may be mild, or it can be severe enough to be life threatening. It moves from mild to moderate before it reaches severe which is a very dangerous state to be in. Some of the causes of dehydration include: Diarrhea, vomiting, sweating too much, urinating too much, fever, and not drinking enough water or other fluids.
WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS OF DEHYDRATION THAT APPEARS IN A PERSON AND TELL ME THE PRIMARY STEPS TO TREAT DEHYDRATION
Dehydration is graded according to signs and symptoms that reflects the amount of fluid lost. They are two types of dehydration : mild dehydration and severe dehydration. In the early/mild stage of dehydration there are no signs or symptoms. This is because early features are difficult to detect but one of the know symptom is dryness of mouth and thirst. As dehydration gradually increases, signs and symptoms also develops, they include : thirst, restlessness, decreased skin turgor and absence of tears when crying vigorously.
SYMPTOMS OF EARLY OR MILD DEHYDRATION
Symptoms of mild dehydration include
1 headache
2 dry, warm skin
3 extreme thirst
4 dizziness
5 weakness
6 dry mouth, dry tongue, with thick saliva. etc
SYMPTOMS OF SEVERE DEHYDRATION
In severe dehydration, the effect of mild dehydration become more pronounced. Severe dehydration is very dangerous and if not rehydrated or treated death follows soon. Symptoms include:
1 fainting
2 skin loses its firmness and look wrinkled
3 lack of elasticity of the skin.
4 rapid and deep breathing.
If you are mildly dehydrated, one of the best thing to do is to drink more water regularly. You can also drink oral rehydration solution from your pharmacy or you can make your own rehydration fluids.
Severe dehydration needs immediate medical attention and if left untreated it can be serious and cause fits(seizures), brain damage, and death
CONCLUSION
In conclusion dehydration is a common condition for various reasons. Its more important to be aware of dehydration symptoms and take precautionary steps to prevent it by taking enough water regularly. If you suspect that you or someone close to you is dehydrated it is important to seek medical attention as this can cause death.
