I am here to talk about a disease that can cause damage to the joints known
as "Athritis" which can affect both young and old.
According to Dr. Fred Emmanuel (a friend of mine) cold is our greatest enemy which when set into the body system brings about blockage and it is a major cause of athritis.
WHAT IS ATHRITIS?
Athritis is the inflammation of one or more joints causing pains and stiffness that can get worse with age.
TYPES OF ATHRITIS
There are different types of athritis, i will mention and talk about a few here.
1.RHEUMATOID ATHRITIS: It occurs when your immune system mistakenly damages your joints. This type affects the joints lining that thereby damages the tissue that covers the end of the bones in a joint. It can cause fatigue, loss of appetite amongst others.
2.OSTEO ATHRITIS: This type is most common in older people. It can damage one's cartilage but the most commonly affected joints are the hands, knees, hips,neck
3.PSORATIC ATHRITIS: This type shows on the skin and it is chronic, it affects the nail as well. It causes red, scaly rashes and thick pitted fingernails.

4.GOUT: It causes sharp uric acid crystals to form in your joints. It is a painful form of athritis. Pain and swelling periodically comes.
5.JUVENILE IDIOPATHIC ATHRITIS: This affects children ranging from sixteen years or younger for at least six weeks.
IMPACT OF LIFESTYLES LIKE EXERCISE AND DIET IN THE MANAGEMENT
OF ATHRITIS SYMPTOMS
Exercise and diet is among the best doctors we have.
Exercise lessens athritis pain, it keeps joints moving and increases range of motion e.g. cycling, walking etc.
Exercise helps to fight fatigue as well.
Healthy diet in the other hand makes most athritis patients to feel better because they extract vitamins and other nutrients that their body needs.
TREATMENT OF ATHRITIS AND ITS EFFECTIVENESS IN PAIN RELIEVING
As earlier stated, cold is one of our greatest enemy when set in the body system. The opposite of cold is heat, therefore the constant application of heat into the body system can bring about the treatment of this disease and can bring relieve to the patient.
Furthermore, research gotten from Johns Hopkins Athritis Centre, most common treatment of athritis include:
1.Over the counter anti-inflammatory medicine like NSAIDs or acetaminiphen like tylenol, ibuprofen etc.
2.Corticosteroids (prescription of anti-inflammatory medicine including cortisone shots.
3.Disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs) if you have rheumatoid or psoriatic athritis.
These can help to relieve pain triggered by the activities your muscles and joints are not used to.
HOW CAN ATHRITIS AFFECT DAILY ACTIVITIES AND QUALITY OF LIFE?
Athritis affects one's daily activities in the sense that the joint pain and swelling reduces mobility and it causes physical weakness and fatigue, insomnia and exhaustion thereby affecting the overall wellbeing of a person.
SOME MISCONCEPTIONS ABOUT ATHRITIS THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED.
That athritis is not preventable
That exercise and weather changes can worsen it
That only older adults develop it
That cracking of knuckles can lead to it
That coffee increases the risk of it
That biologic medications are dangerous.
In conclusion, we should pay attention to our health often and take the right steps when necessary, this can help prevent some diseases like athritis from occurring and also when such disease is noticed in time, it can be properly managed by an authorized medical personnel to avoid getting worse by the day.
