• What is stress eating?
Sometimes boredom, stress, anxiety, and other forms of emotions can cause stress eating. It is not caused by hunger, but it is caused when one is not happy with what has happened to him or her.
With this, I can say that stress eating is the tendency for one to eat in response to feelings of boredom m, anxiety, or stress. A person who isn't happy will not find whatever food is presented to him or her at the time he or she isn't happy even if the person should then start to eat the food he or she will be eating the food as someone who is been forced to eat.
• Negative effects of stress eating?
There are several negative effects of stress eating and I have shared the few that I know too well.
Physical Effects:
The consumption of calorie-dense comfort food can cause overheating and weight gain.
Overheating foods that are unhealthy can displace healthier choices, leading to nutrient deficiencies.
Emotional and Mental Effects
Relying on food to manage our stress can limit the development of healthier stress
Lack of control over eating can affect our mental health
Emotional eating has nothing to do with the control of stress.
• Have you ever felt the need of stress eating? Share your experience.
Yes, I have never felt the need to stress eating. There was a time when I was emotionally down and I found it so difficult to eat food despite seeing food in front of me, I still couldn't eat as I used to eat before and I was just forcing myself to eat the food.
I was eating the food as someone who had been forced to eat. My mind was carried away by my emotions, stress, and anxiety that day which I was just forcing myself to eat.
