Greetings to all my steemian friends, hope you all are doing great. As we all know people are giving birth, new born are coming into the world every day, every minute and every seconds, most of us are mom and dad which is better to make proper plans before the month of delivery, so when I saw this contest organized by @Healthysteem community, I decided to share my thoughts in it.
Risk In Home Birth |
---|
Like I said before new borns are coming into the world every day and in most dangerous circumstances, dead do occurs at the process of delivery, either the mother or the baby. Before such thing happens there most be a reason and sometimes it's might be the place of birth so it's better to have the right knowledge about the place we determine to give birth, is it at home or in the hospital ?
Now let look at some common risk associated with giving birth at home;
First, when a woman is in her labor, a lot of things usually happens such as the pregnant woman losing a lot of blood, this can happen before the labor start or during the labor, in such situations the midwife might not be able to take care of that which can lead to dead.
Also, during the labor, there can be an obstruction, dystocia or failed induction of labor, these are all process where the pregnant woman is unable to deliver the baby vaginally or can't push the baby out on her own.
This can happen because of various reasons like, if the baby is large, the baby's head is to large for the mother's pelvis, and different related reasons. If such situations occurs in a home birth this can lead to dead.
Preparation For Emergency In Home Birth, My Opinion |

When in home birth, there most be a full preparation for emergency. First a midwife is needed, she is the one to take care of the woman till birth after eight months, especially when in labor, she most be a well trained, certified and qualified for the job and also have an experience about it. A doula is also recommended,
Regular exercising must be done to keep the body flexible, am not talking about jumping, running and other exercises that need the application.of force, just walking around, doing some house chores and other things which she likes to do might be helpful.
There must be an extra person who is ever ready to assist in anytime, this can be the family members, the husband, her brothers or sisters, cousin, anyone can volunteer to help and most be trustworthy.
Also they must ensure quick access to emergency services, that is to say a phone call will be needed so such accessible must be available.
Contacting any hospital nearby and making sure they are aware and alert, and it's most be close by. Since we're talking about emergency an easy transportation means must be provided and should be available, stay alert and easily accessible.
Daily check up is also recommended, for the health of the mother and the child either weekly or monthly, but weekly is mostly recommended especially when getting to 7 and 8 month.
Hospital Birth, The Solution |

If not home birth then it's hospital, so in other to solve and mitigate this risk in birth it's most be an hospital birth. Hospitals have all the facilities and tools needed to make sure the baby is well and properly delivered, There are enough doctors, nurses, well trained, qualified and certified for the job with a lot of experience to take care of the birth.
If in any means there's a problem during the labor, there will be no need to sick for a professional doctor or nurse as the already there, there will be no need of making sure there's an available transport Incase of emergency.
Also if in anycase the pregnant woman can deliver the baby on her own due to any problem, she can undergo a surgical delivery procedure which can ensure the safety of the mother and the baby. So we can say in hospital or home birth, an hospital birth is respected, safe and recommended.

I have an experience of a hospital with inadequate facilities to house pregnant women and this has made people prefer giving birth at home, it is not all rosy but if it happens this way I think the best thing to do is prepare and this could be assisted by well trained personal, home birth is very risky because of complication occurs it may be not be properly managed. I wish hospitals are funded to provide more facilities
