Good Monday morning my lovely Steemians, how are you doing? I am good. Today I'll be engaging in a contest organized by sir @suboohi, I'm very excited to be part of this lovely contest titled;
•
"Contest Alert! Malnutrition In Children"
Malnutrition can have serious effects on children and here are some of the effects:
Reduced immunity to diseases: Malnutrition can weaken a child's immune system causing the child to fall ill regularly.
•
Impaired physical and mental development: This can also be caused by malnutrition. Children under this challenge sometimes behave insanely.
•
The factors causing malnutrition vary but here are a few of them I listed out:
Poverty: The first cause of malnutrition in most cases is poverty not able to afford proper diet. This one is so challenging because the child has to eat whatever he/she sees to survive. And this has been the case for many parents most especially in this part of the world.
•
Lack of access to nutritious food: This factor is seen in developing countries where nutritious foods are not available, too expensive and parents can't afford them, or the parents don't have knowledge about them so they prefer cultural dishes rather than giving their children nutritious foods. Also in case the parents don't know how to prepare them.
•
Poor sanitation and hygiene: Poor sanitation and hygiene can lead to diseases like diarrhea which also in turn causes malnutrition. Also, lack of access to clean water and sanitation facilities can lead to a vicious cycle of illness and malnutrition.
•
•Providing nutritional education for parents and caregivers
•
•Improving sanitation and hygiene
•
•Increase access to nutritious foods
•
•And providing healthcare for children who are already malnourished.
•
My few suggestions are:
• Focusing on primary healthcare, this healthcare pattern includes preventive and basic curative care. In developing countries, this healthcare pattern is lacking, but this healthcare pattern can make a huge difference in reducing child mortality and improving overall child health.
•
• Also training and supporting local health workers who can provide basic care and education to families in their community is very important.
•
• Lastly, it is also very important to invest in research and development to find new and innovative solutions to the challenges facing child health in developing countries.
•
In conclusion, children are the leaders of tomorrow their health is very important, and the saying that health is wealth is true. The best gift you can ever offer a child is providing his/her necessary needs and good health is the most important of them all.
