Good my friend, as the name implies, the healthy steem community, I assume that everyone is healthy, safe and sound, I am so happy to participate in this amazing contest organized by @sahmie to share my knowledge and understanding on some of the bad habit around us we should be aware of.
Some of this bad habit might seems harmless or we feel that there's nothing wrong in doing it.
What are the bad habits that are hard to stop and why is it tough to quit them |
---|
♦️From my child hood, my nursery school teacher taught me that Using my teeth to cut my nail is actually a bad habits.
♦️Smoking is also a bad hard that once started it's hard to quit.
♦️Eating unbalanced diet, crazy food combination combination like egusi soup and pap, drinking garri and minerals, drinking garri with pap, mixing egusi soup and vegetable soup together. All this combo is actually a bad habit.
pap and egusi
♦️Dating someone with no intention of marrying the person is also a bad habit.
♦️Having sexual intercourse with someone who is not the husband or wife is also a bad habits.
♦️Drinking excessive alcohol is one of the bad habits which is very difficult to stop.
♦️Being rude
♦️Dishonesty
♦️Stealing meat from the pot is one of the habit we normally do in our childhood. Some people are so expertise in it.
♦️Fighting and being troublesome.
Quiting all this habits I mention here can be difficult because:
♦️if you live in a place where by people are drinking of doing all those bad habits, it's will be a challenge to quit it.
♦️If your friends are promoting this bad habits, my dear, the peer pressured have a big role to play in it.
♦️Some people people do some of this habits because they are depressed and In anxiety. Some feel like drinking will make them high, like the popularly said... drink and forget your sorrow.
So generally, the environment, the pressure from friends and dealing with anxieties can make it difficult to quit bad habits.
How can we tell if a habit is just a habit or if it's more like an addiction? And what can we do to break them? |
---|
This 2 words sound familiar but let look into how we can differentiate between an habit and addiction.
Habits are those behaviors we act everyday repeatedly and often automatically While
Addictions are those addicts, strong compulsion to do something even though we know the consequences of it. For example let's use cutting the nail with our teeth, the habit is like everytime your finger will always be on your mouth while the addict is that, you know very well that cutting your nails with your teeth can lead to health issues by some bacteria underneath the nails. You just enjoy using your teeth to cut your nails and you feel satisfied, that's addiction.
If you have strong urge or craving to engage in the behavior or engaging in the behavior despite negative consequence, or finding it difficult to stop the behavior that's actually an addiction.
what we can do
♦️Know what triggers the behavior and try to avoid them. try to do something to replace that behavior by setting a realistic goals and tracking your improvements.
♦️Seeking support from friends, a therapist and familiar can be helpful in dealing with this bad behavior or habits.
What are some challenges that people might face when trying to quit bad habits, and how can they overcome them? |
---|
Imagine something your have doing to long time and right now you're trying to stop it, it's be Very Veey hard to quit that bad habits.
when Someone is trying to quit the bad habits, he needs motivation in other to be able to focus, but when he lack this motivation, it's will a roadblock for him.
Like drinking, some people drink because they want to free their mind and the anxiety, so when someone is trying to quit and those feelings of anxiety and stressed are still there's, the person will find it vet hard to quit, he may even start the habit again(relapse)
If there's friendship who engaged this activities, it's will be hard for one person out of 5 people to saying am not drinking again from today henceforth.
When there is no support or motivation, the fear of failure can also be a roadblock of challenges in quiting bad habit.
To overcome these challenges
♦️The challenges can be handled by setting realistic goals and keeping record of your progress.
♦️Identify and managing what triggers the behavior by using relaxation techniques or finding healthier ways to cope with stress.
♦️Surrounding yourself with supportive people that encourage your efforts to change.
♦️Seeking professional help from family friends and therapy
♦️Even though at some point you find yourself doing the habit again just remember that the relapse is part of the process and so well to celebrate small success to stay motivated.
How can we support and encourage others to quit their bad habits without being judgmental or pushy? |
---|
I have one guy in my working place, he parks car along the road to earn a living, several people has tried to help him by providing him a job but he decided, he's a graduate but drinking and smoking has made something else in the streets, so trying to help this kind of person can be hard because I remember when one woman call him one day, she tried to talk him to stop smoking and drinking but, the guys was just talking off-load, and i pity him.
His story was so touching, he realised how this has affected him bit he fnd it difficult to quit, so i have a little experience when it come to supporting and encouraging people who are trying to quit bad happy.
♦️We should listen attentively to them and show empathy to their concerns and struggles.
♦️We don't need to criticize or shame them for their behavior instead we should support and encourage them, help them to identify triggers and how to cope.
♦️Celebrating their successes and achievement with them, being patient and understanding when when they experience setbacks or relapse.
♦️Participating in healthy activities or hobbies together and encouraging them to seek professional help as soon as soon as possible.
In conclusion, bad habits are smoking z drinking cutting nail with teeth and so on and it's can be difficult to quit this behavior by environment, friends and the feelings of anxiety. In other to quit bad habits, we need self-awareness, self-control, and a commitment to change, as well as strategies like avoiding triggers and seeking support.

Tour post is quite interesting and also funny at the same time. But how can a normal human mixed pap and egusi soup and take, that's a very weird combo.
You also made mentioned of cutting nails with the teeth, I used to do it when I was a teenager but thank God I've stopped it since.
Wish you success in your post.
