Contest: The Dangers of Drug Abuse

Good day everyone, Happy New month my friends, I wish you all the best. Am by name @mhizta and am happy to participate in this ongoing contest.

Introduction

In today's contest, we will go into deep highlights of drug abuse, what drug abuse means, some commonly abuse drug in our environment. we will also explain some common dangers of drugs abuse that need to address, how we can promote awareness and prevent of drug abuse in our communities, how we can support individuals who are struggling with drug addiction and lastly, how we can educate young people about the dangers of drug abuse in a relatable and engaging way.

Explain in your own understanding what Drug abuse is all about?

Just like the question: explain what drug abuse is all about..... Drug abuse in my own understanding means using drugs without medical prescription. To keep it in simple terms, we can say drug abuse is when you're using drugs that are not prescribed by a doctor. For example, what do you When you experience headache or pain? most of us will just go for taking paracetamol because it's good for headache, that is drug abuse, anything that's not prescribed to you by a doctor or specialist, or taking excess out of the prescription is Drug abuse.

Mentioned some commonly abuse drugs in your environment?
In my environment, most commonly drug abuse are:

1. I mentioned earlier about using paracetamol when someone is feeling headaches instead of going to see a doctor.
2. Cigarettes which is not good for health
3. Alcohol: drinking excess of alcohols
4. Tobacco: excessive of tobacco.

People who are addicted to drugs are likely to suffer these consequences:
Physical and mental health problems.
Financial problems.
legal problems.
Relationship problems.

Financial problems: in a way to explain this further, it's a situation whereby someone who is addicted to drugs, spent all his money on it and this lead to being financially unstable, unable to provide for his basic need.

Physical and mental health problems: people who are addicted to drug abuse always suffer mental health conditions like Feeling anxiety, depressed, and in a condition know as Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder(PTSD).

Relationship problems: Someone who is addicted to drugs is likely to separate himself from his love one and this can leads to broken relationship, family failure.

Legal problems: Someone who is into drugs abuse is at the risk of being arrested especially if it's dealing with illegal drugs. And if someone is caught on drugs issues, it will have impact on that person for a long time to the extent that he may find it difficult to secure a job.

The best way promote awareness and prevention of drug abuse is through education. Yes, we need to educate people about the danger involving in drug abuse so that they can make a good decision about their mental health and others in the community.
We also need to address the causes of drug abuse, the root of it, like unemployment, poverty and even social isolation because most people are into drug because they hardly cater for their needs, they can't secure a job, they will whatever its takes to earn a living like involving in drugs. We need to address all this issues so as to prevent drug abuse in our community.

In my own opinion, I think the best way to support those who are struggling to drug addiction to have a clear understanding that drug addiction is not something you can just stop any time, it's a disease, and we need to support them, advice them to seek professional help, help them to find hobby and interest because this will help them to find a sense of purpose and fulfillment outside drugs.

We should also avoid enabling those who are struggling with drug addiction by not giving them those things that can could be use to buy drug. Even if they fall-back or relapse, we should continue to support them.

Interesting, to educate young people about the danger of drug abuse in a relatable and engaging way, we need to use age appropriate real word examples with them like what can happen if someone take excess of drugs. we can also use social media to to reach out to young ones and enlighten them the effects and the danger associating in drug abuse.

So guys, generally, we should stay away from drug abuse because it's come with dangerous consequences. And also we should also support those who are struggling to drug addiction. we should create aware about the danger of drug abuse so as to create a better place for young one, ourselves and our community.
