What is Sore Eyes? |

Eye sore which can also be called as eye strain (asthenopia), is a common condition commonly caused by eye fatigue, pain or discomfort. These factors are:
Causes
- Prolonged screen time: It is the main cause of sore eyes. Staring at screens of computers, smartphones and other digital devices for a long time can cause sore eyes.
- Poor lighting: This is also a main cause, when we work in excessive or low light environment than we can face sore eyes condition.
- Reading or writing: Study for long time mean it is a work in which we have to do more focus that is why reading and writing can cause sore eyes.
- Allergies: Seasonal and other environmental allergies can cause eye irritation which lead to sore eyes.
Symptoms
Some symptoms of sore eyes are:
- Eye irriration
- Eye fatigue
- Dryness
- Blurred vision
- Headaches
- Eye pain

Dealling with eye irritation is a challenge for all victims but especially for those spend most time on screens. Below are some advices for preventing eye sores.
General Tips
Follow the 20-20-20 rule: This is a great formula and is used for dealing with eye sore. It mean every 20 minutes, look away from your screen and focus on something 20 feet away for 20 seconds.
Blink regularly: You should blink regularly while working or at screens.
- Inhibit blue light: for reducing eye strain use software for blocking blue light or you can use glasses as well.
- Get enough sleep: Sleep properly for 7-8 hours at night.
- Exercise regularly: Regular excercise is essential for overall health and reduce eye strain.
Additional Tips for Screen Users:
Screen users can prevent themselves by following the tips given below.
- Adjust font size and zooming while using screens.
- Use good lighting when you on screens.
- Use eye-friendly softwares.
- Limit screen time before bed.

Rest your eyes: Rest is crucial so take a handsome sleep an prevent the activities that cause sore eyes.
Stay hydrated: For keeping your skin and eyes hydrated, drink a plenty of water.
Wear sunglasses: Wear sunglasses to protect your eyes from UV rays.
**Avoid rubbing **: Avoid rubbing your eyes instead of this you can compress it gently by a warm piece of cloth.
Lifestyle Changes: Lifestyle changes are crucial like take breaks from screens, excercise regularly, eat a balanced diet, manage stress etc.
By adapting these tips a patient can easily deal with sore eyes but remember to consult with an eye care professional in necessary if your sore eyes get worsen.
