👩‍⚕️ Have you played the role of caregiver or do you know someone who has put it into practice? Tell us about it.

I have played the role of caregiver and still I am playing this role because recently my mother had under gone a cataract eye surgery. So have to take a good care of her. I had to feed her for seven days after the surgery now I give her eye drops tima to time. I think every person is a caregiver when his or her relatives get sick. On the other hand, every person is a caretaker when they feel sick.

Yes, I know one of my relatives is a nurse and learnt, practiced professionally how to give care to others. I think she is in a noble profession because help someone at their hard time is highly appriciatable.

👩‍⚕️ Do you think that caring for a sick person should be a team effort or the work of a single person?

It depends on how sick that person is. I think caring a sick person should be a team work. Let me explain my opinion, when anyone of my family get sick we, the other member divided our work untill he become well. Few days ago my mother had a cataract eye surgery and doctor advised us to take proper care of her. So me and my elder sister divided our Responsibility. As we decided we will not let our mother out of our eyes for a single minute so my elder sister was awake till 2 am and I was asleep that time. Again after 2 am I was awake she was asleep. It was the team work that resulted in less suffering for both of us. Another person was responsible for cooking for my mother, I was responsible for medicine. As a result of this team work, she recovered quickly.

👩‍⚕️ What qualities do you think a caregiver should have?

A caregiver should have some qualities. Bellow I am pointing out some :

  • A care giver should have enough patience.
  • Must have quick decision making capacity in any emergency situation.
  • He must be physically fit otherwise he cannot care for anyone else.
  • A caregiver should always maintain hygiene. Clean clothes should be used along with good hand sanitisation.
  • A sick person is already mentally weak so no loud or bad behavior can be done with them. A caregiver should always be polite and calm

👩‍⚕️ What advice would you give to a person who is performing this role?

Those who are already performing this role know this better than I do. As I am not a professional care giver, I cannot advise anyone. But I will say from personal experience, a caregiver should always be aware. A little carelessness can lead to serious accidents. I also want to say that serving any sick person is undoubtedly a virtuous act. This great work has religious, social and family value.

Hi dear,

I really enjoyed your article indeed you are a caregiver, taking care of your mother at her old age is indeed a great lesson for all to learn, beating a caregiver does not necessarily mean you must need to learning that with patience amidst their grumpiness and empathy is indeed important as a caregiver. Thanks for sharing this. I wish you good luck for this challenge.

Thank you so much for your valuable comment.

Hola amiga

Saludos

Thanks a lot my friend for your kind words. Much appreciated.

caregiving for family members is much harder than caregiving for others. You rock!

What an interesting post you've made today dear friend

For many people, family members are the first and best option for caregivers. Family members already have a bond and connection to the person being cared for, which makes the process more personal and meaningful. In addition, family members often have a deep understanding of the person's needs and preferences, making it easier to provide appropriate care. Of course, family members may also have their own lives and commitments, so it's important to find a balance that works for everyone. But overall, family members can make excellent caregivers, bringing love and support to the person in need.

A good caregiver should be dependable, empathetic, and reliable. They should be able to communicate clearly and respectfully, and be willing to listen to the person being cared for. They should be patient, kind, and understanding, even in difficult situations. They should also be flexible, adaptable, and willing to take on new tasks as needed. Lastly, a good caregiver should be able to set boundaries and take care of themselves, so they can continue to provide quality care. Overall, a good caregiver is someone who is willing to go the extra mile to help others in need.

Team effort is often said to be more powerful than the sum of its parts. When multiple people come together to work towards a common goal, they can achieve more than they could have alone. This is especially true in caregiving, where the tasks and responsibilities can be overwhelming for one person. With a team, each person can focus on their individual strengths and contribute to the overall success of the caregiving process. Teamwork not only leads to greater efficiency, but also a greater sense of accomplishment and satisfaction.

Thanks for sharing and good luck with the challenge...
