Greetings everyone in this healthy community, I am glad to participate in this contest organized by @sahmie. I am Poolee from Nigeria.

There's no one on the surface of the earth that has never been a victim of malaria parasite; This particular sickness is no respecter of persons.

Question 1:

How do people get Malaria, mention 5 things we can do to stop it?

People can get malaria through untidy and a dirty environment that has stagnated water around; Because the stagnated water can breeds mosquitoes especially the female mosquitoes known as "anopheles" which are the main parasites that spread and causes malaria whenever you get sting by it.

And also people can also get malaria through untreated water like pipe borne water, that is why it's always adviced to boil our drinking water for those of us that can not afford bottle water.

Five things to do to stop malaria

• We should keep our surroundings clean
• Clear all bushes and fumigate them
• We should use mosquitoes repellent in our homes, especially during bed time
• We should apply water treatment like water guard or we simply boil our drinking water to make it safe and devoid of any bacteria.
• If you can't afford mosquitoes repellent simply use mosquitoes nets provided by government free of charge; but before you make use of the nets, make sure you air them first to get rid of the chemical available in the nets.

Question 2:

Give some signs of Malaria, and why is it important to find it early?

Signs of malaria vary from person to person; I'll take myself for instance: Sometimes anytime that I'm having malaria; I tend to sleep more, sometimes I'll develop constant headache, soar throat and bitterness in my mouth and then I can feel feverish and loss appetite if not treated immediately.

It is very important to identify these signs early and then do something about it, because if malaria stays in you longer than necessary; it is capable of killing. Yes it is as deadly as that, so don't underestimate it power.

Question 3:

How does Malaria affect communities, and what can we do to fight it?

For instance: digging a pipe borne water for the people in a particular community without the water being treated and suitable for drinking, when the people in the community fetches it for drinking without proper treatment, they are bound to have malaria due to the untreated water;
And also without cleaning the gutters to avoid stagnated water that can breeds mosquitoes; the whole community are a candidate of malaria.

What we can do is simple:

Simply keep your surroundings clean by sweeping and clearing bushes around or you fumigate your environment.
Avoid contaminated food and drinks.

Question 4:

Why are mosquitoes linked to Malaria, and how can we control them to stop the disease?

Not all mosquitoes are linked to malaria; it is only the female mosquitoes known as anopheles that can infect us with the malaria parasite when we get bitten by it.
And we can control them to stop the disease by not giving them any room to breed, and also by using insect repellent if we noticed their presence in our homes.

Question 5:

How has treating and preventing Malaria changed, and what problems are we still facing in getting rid of it?

The world Health organization (WHO) has really tried in mandating the different medical bodies and also equipping them to move from house to house distributing mosquitoes nets free to every member of a household especially in the rural areas and I know this approach has really help to reduce the disease. And staying inside this mosquitoes nets needs fan to blow because of heat.

The problem facing is that, due to how unreliable electricity supply is in our country, we don't have such luxury all the time if we use mosquitoes nets. And
Also also because of high cost of living an average man can not afford to buy mosquitoes repellent again, they would think of using the money to feed instead but God will help us.
