For many, the start of a new year frequently represents a fresh start. Setting health objectives, like reducing weight, adopting a healthier diet, and beginning an exercise regimen, is what this entails for some people.
But most of the time, people abandon their health and wellness resolutions within a few weeks because they are unsustainable and extremely rigid. This explains why so many individuals renew their vows annually.
Setting and maintaining lifelong goals for health improvement is crucial for interrupting that loop.
Here are a few steps I’m considering.
Reduce sugary beverages intake.
Reducing the amount of sweetened beverages you consume makes sense because sugar-filled drinks have been related to an increased risk of heart disease, obesity, fatty liver, insulin resistance, and cavities in both adults and children.
While giving up sweetened beverages all at once is always an option, progressively cutting back on your consumption may help you permanently break the habit.
And get more quality sleep.
Overall health depends on getting enough sleep, and not getting enough sleep might have detrimental effects. For example, getting too little sleep can make you more susceptible to depression, heart illness, and weight gain.
There are numerous reasons why people don't get enough sleep, therefore the best techniques to increase the quantity and quality of your sleep will depend on your schedule and lifestyle.
Some easy strategies to improve sleep hygiene are to reduce the amount of time you spend on screens before bed, reduce light pollution in your bedroom, cut back on caffeine, and go to bed at a normal hour.
What’s your healthy New Year resolution?
