Write any 4 points that you know about colour blindness.

Colour blindness is an eye defect in which the victim is unable to differentiate between colours or unable to see certain colours. There is no cure for it, but they're special glasses which one with such defect can use. Victims most times find it quite hard to distinguish between bright and dull colour, ripe and unripe fruits. It is usually hereditary which means a parents can pass it down to their children. Hue test is an eye test used to test for colour blindness. During the eye test, the victims are usually asked to arrange different colors in the rainbow order.

This eye defect is divided into two forms,

  • Blue yellow colour blindness

This type of color blindness occurs when someone finds it difficult to differentiate between blue and yellow color.

  • Red green color blindness

This type of color blindness occurs when someone is unable to differentiate between red and green color.

  • Genetics

Parents with the eye defect can pass it down to their children through genes.

  • Certain medications

They're certain medications that has side effects which could result to colour blindness. For example Hydroxychloroquine use in treating Malaria can cause Colour blindness.

  • Exposure to Toxic substances

Exposure to some certain heavy metals, hydrocarbons can result to colour blindness.

• Can colour blindness in severe case be a cause of complete vision loss?(Is it a myth or truth justify)...

This is a Myth, Color blindness defect can never result to complete blindness. In severe cases, it can lead to Achromatopsia in which the victim is unable to differentiate colors.

Symptoms of colour blindness
  • Inability to differentiate colours.

  • Constant headache.

  • Eye Ache

  • Inability to read coloured alphabets.
