Please accept my appreciation for arranging such a wonderful engagement challenge. I am new in this community, but I am really happy to be part of your challenge. That's why I came here to publish my article on Steemit engagement challenge season 13, week 4, in the #healthy Steem Community with the title "The Role of the Caregiver."

👩‍⚕️ Have you played the role of caregiver, or do you know someone who has put it into practice? Tell us about it.

Yes, I have played the role of caregiver. Last year, my mother had serious-level foot pain. So I have to take good care of her. I tried my hardest to do everything in our house, from cooking to cleaning.

When a family member becomes ill, I believe that everyone becomes a caretaker. However, when one is ill, one must come to caregiver for others.

👩‍⚕️ Do you think that caring for a sick person should be a team effort or the work of a single person?

It all depends on how ill the individual is. I believe that caring for a sick person should be a collaborative effort. Let me clarify my point of view: when a family member is sick, other members of that family divide their work until the person gets well soon. Due to my mother's foot pain, she couldn't walk, and the doctor gave her bed rest for the entire week. So me and my elder brother divided our responsibility. As a female member of my family, I handle the cooking part and give her medicine. When I was at school, my brother took my part and tried to give his best. And other outside activities, like doctor checkups, are also done by my father. It was the teamwork that resulted in less suffering for our family. As a result of this teamwork, she recovered quickly. I think that it's the spirit and it must have everyone.

A caregiver should have some qualities. Below, I am giving some which I think are mandatory qualities:

• A caretaker must be flexible.
• A caregiver must be able to make quick decisions.

• A caregiver must be physically fit.

• A caregiver must always wear clean clothes.

• Always have a cheerful attitude in order to support the patient.

• Always have to good at communication skills.

• Must have good organizational skill.
