I am more prone to get victim of dehydration in the dry season. The dry season typically runs from November to April here in Nigeria.
During this period, there is less or no rainfall which leads to reuduced access to clean water and increased heat and both of them contribute to dehydration.
Additionally, waterborne diseases is common during the dry season which further increases the risk of dehydration.

Overall, I am more prone to dehydration during the dry season which runs approximately from November to April.

With what symptoms dehydration appears in a person and tell me primary steps to treat dehydration?

Dehydration can manifest in many ways, some common symptoms include:
• Thirst
• Fatigue
• Headache
• Dry mouth
• Dizziness
• Muscle cramps.

In a severe case, dehydration can also cause rapid heartbeat, fever, confusion and unconsciousness

In terms of primary steps to treat dehydration, the very first things to do is to rehydrate the person by giving the person water.
Then you can go ahead to give him or her an oral rehydration solution.
Oral rehydration solution contains electrolytes such as sodium, potassium and Chloride which help the body absorb water as well as prevent dehydration.

Most importantly, when the person have been rehydrated it is important to treat the cause of the dehydration. Example is if the dehydration was caused by diarrhoea, the infection should be treated with antibiotics or other medications.

With which level of severity dehydrated patient may appear?(Share a real scenerio)

There are three levels of severity of dehydration:
• Mild
• Moderate
• Severe

A person with Mild dehydration may have symptoms like light headache, thirst and dry mouth. They are also likely to have decrease in urine output or dark yellow urine.
Their skin may feel less elastic than how it's supposed to be.
Anyone experiencing these symptoms should seek medical attention as soon as possible.

A person with moderate dehydration will have similar symptoms as the person with mild dehydration but they will be experiencing a bit more severe symptoms which include rapid heartbeat, irritability, low blood pressure and swollen eyes.
If anyone experiences these symptoms, it is advicable to go to the hospital as soon as possible.

Finally, a person with severe dehydration may be in shock. This is more of a life threatening condition because the person's organs will not get enough blood or oxygen.
Symptoms at this stage will include; shock, weakness, low blood pressure and confusion mentally.
If anyone experiences these symptoms he or she should seek immediately medical attention.

Thank you

I invite @josepha @patjewell and @waterjoe to also participate in this contest.

I Really appreciate your views on dehydration, especially the high incidence during dry season in Nigeria. Your comprehensive analysis of symptoms and treatment methods creates invaluable awareness about the identification, diagnosis and prevention of dehydration. Education on dehydration, how severe it is and its impact to general health; information that spreads awareness about the disease must be conducted.
