Generally, we have two main definitions of herb, and they are;
1: In botany
2: In cooking. So let's take a look at the two...

In botany

Herb is a plant that bears seed with stems that has no woody foundation that can eventually die back into the ground after its growing season. Unlike trees and shrubs that has woody steem that can persist in the group for years.

In Cooking

Meaning of herbs used in cooking, I think this is the one being referred to as "healthy herbs". They are leaves or tender of a plant, they could be used for their aroma, flavour, spice or even as medicinal properties. They can be used dry or in their fresh nature to enhance our food to give it a unique taste. Such herbs includes:-
Basil
Tumeric
Ginger
Garlic
Cilantro
Mints

🌿What are the Health Benefits of Herbs?

Herbs has been used for many centuries now, not just for adding flavors to food but also for their medicinal values. Because they have various vitamins, minerals and antioxidants that are beneficial to health.

Here are some of the known ones in our locality:-

• Ginger: Is a popular spice, which has the ability to cure nausea and inflammation. It may also help in controlling blood sugar and also lowering cholesterol levels 👇

Garlic has varieties of health benefits, such as; it can boost the immune system, improve cholesterol levels and lower blood pressure too.

🌿What is the best herb to take daily?

I don't think there's a particular best herb to be taken daily, each of the herbs has its own unique benefits and properties. So as such what works for Mr A might not work for Mr B. So it is advisable to consult an health care professionals before you decide to take any herb on daily basis because of its adverse effects that might interact with an underlying ailment that you might not know about in your body.

However some commonly used herbs that can be consumed on daily basis are; garlic, ginger.

🌿Positive and Negative Effects of Herbs

Positive Effects

• They are rich source of nutrients:

• Some herbs promote natural healing: certain herbs has medicinal properties that can aid in the healing treatment of some ailments.

• Herbs add flavor to our food by enhancing taste and aroma without adding unhealthy fats or sodium. They can be used dried, fresh.

Negative Effects

• Potential for side effects. Herbs can have adverse side effects especially when consumed in large quantities. So take caution

• Improper use: misidentifying or incorrect preparation of herbs can cause serious problems to our health.

In conclusion: please note that herbs can be used to compliment a healthy diet and lifestyle, they are not to be replaced as conventional medical treatment. Let's be guided.
