In my research, the important blood types include; A, B, AB, and O. Those are determined by the absence of two antigens on the top of red blood cells which are the A and B.

A has both antigens, while type B has neither, type AB this has the same, and type O has nothing. Meanwhile the Rh factor further explain blood types as Rh-positive or even Rh-negative.
Blood type is known by genetic factors and is sometimes Seen through blood tests.

Why is it important to know our blood type?

Knowing our blood type is very important for some reasons. It's important in medical emergencies, which are; accidents, in this case, blood transfusions may be needed immediately.

By Knowing our blood type, it can help us know that we receive compatible blood, which it prevent adverse reactions. Meanwhile, it's important for a pregnant women and her fetuses, as the mother blood type can affect the baby's.

By Understanding our blood type, it can also provide insights into our immune system and susceptibility to some diseases.

How do blood types affect our health and why do they matter in medical treatments?

I will say Blood types, determined by the presence or the absence of some antigens on the surface of red blood cells, this play an important role in the transfusions and organ transplants. Meanwhile Blood type O individuals have neither A nor B antigens and the can receive blood from any other type, but most importantly their blood can harm others.

Also type A individuals have A antigens and can receive blood from A or O individuals, but their blood can harm B or AB individuals. Type B individuals have B antigens and can receive blood from B or O individuals, but their blood are harmful to A or AB individuals. Also Type AB individuals have both A and B antigens and the can receive blood from any other type, but their blood can really harm A, B, or even O individuals. Lastly Blood type compatibility is important in medical treatments to avoid different reactions, which include; immune system attacks.

Why are some people considered to be universal blood donors while others can receive blood from only a few?

In my understanding, Universal blood donors are individuals who has blood type O, and the lack both A and B antigens on the surface of their red blood cells. This allows their blood match with any other blood type, as this does not contain the antigens that can trigger any immune response in recipients.

In contrast, humans with blood types A, B, or even AB have these antigens on their red blood cells, which can cause adverse reactions in recipients who has different blood types. Meanwhile , universal blood donors can donate blood to individuals with any blood type, while the remaining can only receive blood from individuals with their own blood type.
