Health Matters: SELF-CARE

Welcome to my blog. It is nice joining the Health Matter series this week. This is one topic that is inevitable in our everyday discussions. It is that area that affects human existence, and how best we handle it determines our longevity on Mother Earth. Let's attend to the guiding questions as required for the "Self Care" contest.

How do you prioritize self-care in your daily routine?

There are basic self-care routines everyone should join daily, and if skipped, it may gradually deteriorate our body and mental system. Prioritizing our self-care is as important as our survival.

Keeping tabs on those essential self-care routines is key to how much we can be ideally prepared for the day's activities. However, we can start small in building this routine. This could be from diligently doing them from the point of startup weakness to managing a reasonable amount of the self-care routine like breathing, stretching, meditation,.etc.

The other is having a schedule and listening to our body. We may deliberately have a schedule so we can be disciplined in what we do. In doing this, we have to always listen to our body. We have to know when we are energized, stressed, and need rest.

One thing we must prioritize is learning how to say no to energy-consuming tasks as well as knowing how to seek support from close allies without shying away from it.

Self-care cannot be detached from nourishing our body by the kind of treats we give it both internally and externally. What works for me may not entirely work for the next; therefore, let's do what is self best for us. Attending to self-care is not being selfish.

What activities help you relax and unwind when you're feeling stressed?

In one
way, I have devised some means to stay relaxed during stressful moments. One of which is having a good rest. Resting is one way I've applied that has worked well during stressful times. We have to create time for rest though this may seem difficult sometimes.

Sitting out with family and friends. Sitting out would have a way of dousing tensions and anxiety. It is good we discover what works out well for us, and this is one of them.

Exercising and as well taking a walk around help me reduce stress burden. It allows us to ease off issues bothering us and stressful moments around us.

Why is self-care important for maintaining overall well-being?

Selfcare is all about individual welfare though this has been neglected over time. It's important for maintaining overall well-being.

Self-care helps us maintain and reduce stress and anxiety through various forms of relaxation activities.

It helps to support our mental health by promoting balance during unstable periods. Indulging in some self-care activities brings relief and balance, which is a decider in boosting our mood. This is one of the best ways of pushing depression away.

Self-care improves our general health condition. Eating healthy meals, exercising, and other Self-care habits are all ways of staying fit and healthy.

How do you ensure you take time for yourself amidst your busy schedule?

During busy times, I have decided to create ease-off time for a moment. This includes standing up for a while and walking around, which comes with little or no freestyle discussion.

Remember, I cannot forget break time. This is a time to snack or lunchtime to help break the stress and strain of work.

What self-care practices have you found most beneficial for your mental health?

I have found my way of always exercising during this period. Since the compulsory sit-a-home order every Monday by an agitating group that halts all work activities in the region. I have resorted to going out to the field to jog and as well play football. These three hours of weekly exercise have continued to add the recommended self-care I've always desired.

Learning to work according to my capacity and trying to reduce unwanted workloads. Working uncontrollably is one way we are laden and strained with anxiety and pressure. Knowing when we are done and quitting solves it all.

In summary, we have to take self-care routines seriously as this is one way we can get the best for ourselves. Just, as I've said, self-care is not being selfish.
