I avoid rubbing my eyes and wash my hands frequently to prevent infection and irritation.

I wear sunglasses that block 99% to 100% of UVA and UVB rays when I go outside to protect my eyes from the sun’s harmful rays

I eat a balanced diet that includes foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids, lutein, zinc, and vitamins C and E, such as green leafy vegetables, fish, eggs, nuts, and citrus fruits. 🥗

I take breaks from looking at the computer screen every 20 minutes and follow the 20-20-20 rule: look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds and blink 20 times. 👀

I visit my eye doctor regularly for check-ups and updates on my glasses or contact lenses prescription. 👓

These are some of the ways that I take care of my eyes everyday. I hope this helps you learn more about eye health and how to maintain good eyesight. 😊

Yes, there are many foods and nutrients that can benefit your eye health and eyesight. According to various sources some of the most important ones are:

Vitamin A: This vitamin is essential for maintaining your eyes’ light-sensing cells and preventing dry eye. You can get vitamin A from animal-derived foods, such as liver, egg yolks, and dairy products, or from plant-based carotenoids, such as beta-carotene, found in kale, spinach, and carrots.

Lutein and zeaxanthin: These are yellow carotenoid antioxidants that protect your macula, the central part of your retina, from harmful blue light and oxidative stress. You can find them in leafy green vegetables, such as kale, spinach, and collard greens, as well as in eggs, corn, and grapes.

Vitamin C: This vitamin is an antioxidant that helps prevent or delay age-related eye diseases, such as cataracts and macular degeneration. You can get vitamin C from citrus fruits, such as oranges, grapefruits, and lemons, as well as from other fruits and vegetables, such as peaches, red bell peppers, tomatoes, and strawberries.

Vitamin E: This vitamin is another antioxidant that protects your cells from free radical damage and supports your immune system. You can get vitamin E from nuts and seeds, such as almonds, sunflower seeds, and hazelnuts, as well as from avocados and vegetable oils.

Omega-3 fatty acids: These are essential fats that help reduce inflammation and dry eye symptoms, as well as lower the risk of glaucoma and macular degeneration You can get omega-3s from cold-water fish, such as salmon, tuna, sardines, and trout, or from plant sources, such as flaxseeds, chia seeds, and walnuts.

To prevent or relieve eye strain, you can try the following tips and strategies

Blink more often: Blinking helps keep your eyes moist and prevents dryness and irritation. When you're using digital devices, you tend to blink less than usual, so make a conscious effort to blink more often You can also use artificial tears or eye drops when your eyes feel dry

Every 20 minutes take a break from your screen and look at an object 20 feet away for 20 seconds It helps to relax your eye muscles and reduce eye strain You can also close your eyes for a few seconds or gently massage your eyelids during your breaks

Adjust your screen settings: Make sure your screen isn't too bright or too dim compared to your surroundings You can adjust the brightness contrast and font size of your screen to make it more comfortable for your eyes You can also use a blue light filter or night mode to reduce the amount of blue light your screen emits especially at night

Reduce glare and reflections: Glare and reflections can cause eye strain and make it difficult to see your screen You can reduce glare and reflections by placing your screen away from direct light sources, such as windows or lamps You can also use a matte screen protector or an anti-glare filter to reduce the glare on your screen

Use computer glasses or contact lenses If you wear glasses or contact lenses, you may benefit from using computer glasses or contact lenses that are specifically designed for digital device use Computer glasses or contact lenses can help you focus better on your screen and reduce eye strain They can also block or filter blue light and UV rays from your screen You can consult your eye doctor to get the right prescription and advice for your computer glasses or contact lenses
