World's first hacker, Digital Thief

The successor of today's digital thieves, but he did the first digital theft in 1971. The Internet was not yet invented, computers were huge. It was used only in mathematical and scientific studies. It was not used for any commercial purpose. So, in those days there was no opportunity for thieves to steal through computers, mobile phones or the internet. In that era, John Draper stole the first digital.

Draper was an avid computer expert. He was very fond of the radio as a child. The radio is one year old in our house. The young man builds up a radio transmitter himself. And at the time of this radio transmission, at the age of 28, Draper saw himself as one of the first hackers. Draper transmits a phone number to get feedback from this radio audience. With this number he can communicate with his audience.

Phone calls were quite affordable in those days. It was not the era of mobile phones like now. Wired telephone was the only means of fast communication. Calls had to be received and connected by the telephone operator. In the telephone exchange office, one person's call was manually connected and disconnected by the exchange office operators.

The brilliant Draper began thinking of cutting this huge cost of telephone bills. I observed this for a long time. And once found a loophole in the management of the telephone company AT & T. The first task of any hacker is to find the vulnerability of the system and enter through that loophole to get the job done.

So, Draper observed that operators of the AT & T telephone company could sense the end of a call when the phone was placed in the cradle. And as soon as the phone is placed in the cradle, a whistle sounds from the AT & T company phone, which the operator knows that the customer has left the phone. Since only the operator could hear this whistle, many people did not know anything about it. And it only played automatically when the telephone receiver and mouthpiece were placed in the phone cradle.

Draper observed that operators add up to phone bills by the time they hear the whistle. But, the line is still alive. When this whistle blows, the telephone operator notes that the trunk call is now ready for a new call, the previous call being terminated.

Draper played in the head of no one else in the world. He made a toy whistle perfectly.

With this whistle made by him, the whistle of 2600 Hz frequency could be played perfectly, which was exactly a carbon copy of AT & T's whistle of the same frequency. One morning in 1971, Draper made a trunk call, left the phone receiver and mouthpiece in the cradle, and blew his homemade whistle. The operator on the other end thought the call was over. A bill for a small amount was added. But he is still talking for hours. 2 hour trunk call bill is only 6 minutes.

Since then, this hacking continued unabated. After a long year and a half, the matter finally came to the attention of the company. By then, Draper has made thousands of hours of calls free. He was banned by the telephone company. A case was also filed against him. He had to pay several fines.

After a few years, the young boy separated himself from these works and devoted himself to the development of computer hardware and software. Apple computer in 1977, IBM in 1978, Autodesk in 1986, Chief Programmer of the famous security company Shop IP from 1999 to 2004.This software developer is still immersed in work. However, now he has immersed himself more in freelance writing. He is the world's first hacker. John Thomas Draper (John Thomas Draper).
