Steemit Philippines Photography Contest Week #3 : (Bunutan ng Uban-The old's cradle to sleep)

When I think about Filipino culture, the first thing that comes to my mind is the people. Diaspora is a common thing to us on a global sense because of the fact that we are a third world country and others went to other places to find a better future but locally it is still a common thing.My dad's family is from another province that is far from where my mom was from.I grew up in mom's province but the closeness that I have with my father's side is still maintained. It is a tradition that whenever vacation started I was supposed to spend it with either inay(My mom's mother) in Manila or with apo(my father's side) in Pampanga. You might be thinking that I go there because of the food but you might be right but you are also wrong. Pampanga's way of cooking is deliberate and extravagant for my taste, in my observation it is some of the reasons why it is good.They have a lot of added ingredients that is considered important and should not be taken out of the recipe.Though it is something to take note of, I dont enjoy my stay there because of that pleasure. I enjoy my stay there because of my apo. I enjoy her kapampangan streak that I should wear good clothes, and so we always go to tiangge every Saturday to buy trendy clothes for kids.It is funny and out of my own family's character.I even wonder why my dad doesnt have that streak not that I hate being practical but I was just curious about it. It is enjoyable and funny that I went there with one bag and I'm going back with four and the bag for food is not yet included.I value our tawanan and kwentuhan together with my aunts.Her passionate and snide comments that are just a cover up way of showing concern. Her OA hypochondriac nature, going to dermatologist to check on her skin that was splashed by oil(when it is just a small tinge).But most of all, she's been a workaholic, going to San Fernando early in the morning everyday to buy fresh goods for her store.So whenever she asked me to "bunutan siya ng uban" I always comply cause I want her to sleep. I want her to maintain her health. I want her to able to see what I might do in the future not in a superficial way of showing off what I become but to show what I became as a person from the memories we shared.
