As we celebrate life, we tend to celebrate God's blessings and creation.
Hello #SteemitPhilippines!!! I hope we are all good and healthy. Few weeks ago, I posted and shared how happy I am to meet my first new born niece, that was born on September 08, 2021. Today, I will share with you the Christening celebration that happened on 03-October-2021.
We were so busy during the day. We woke up so early in the morning, preferably at dawn to prepare the foods and decorations with the help of our relatives. As we all know that helping one another is one of the Filipino traits.
At 7 o'clock in the morning, we must have to be all ready for the 8 o'clock church seminar. The seminar is being held right before the 10 a.m. mass. For us Catholics, this activity (seminar) is a must before the christening ceremony. This is to aware and to remind the parents and the sponsors (Godmother / Godfather) of what are their duties and responsibilities for the child. And I am one of the sponsors or what we called as "Ninang".
We arrived at the church earlier at 8 a.m. for the seminar that was headed by a church layman. At 10 o'clock, we attended the mass, and in the middle of the mass, the baptizing ceremony was being inserted. After the mass and the ceremony, we were given a chance to have pictorials and with the Priest.
We headed home for lunch right after. We prepared Filipino recipes: bam-i, pork caldereta, pork humba, lechon belly cooked by my uncle and brother; hotdogs by my sister; and of course my specialty of gulaman, creamy spaghetti and mango float cake, the last but not the least, we ordered cake. And the hanging rice were never out of the table that was prepared by my mother and aunties. It is also common to us to have hanging rice during occasions. As for my experience, it is easier to also have this and is best to pair for the lechon belly while eating with barehands.
Pictorials time with baby Zen.
It was a bit of funny because of brown out, but good thing that it was not raining the whole day and we able to celebrate it successfully.
Christening is a kind of ceremony for baptizing and naming a child. On top of that, it is not just a ceremony, but it is a way to be closer to God and one of the 7 sacraments that Catholics must follow.
Thank you for dropping by and taking time with my event story today. Have a blessed day to all. Stay safe everyone. 20% has been set for @steemitphcurator.
Always,
