Refractometers are known to measure sugar or salt in food When I was in my school days, in a food processing subject, I saw a refractometer but we have to peek on the eye hole to see the level of the sweetness of he Choco milk that we made. Now here in the feedmill plant that I work for, is a digital refractometer to measure the molasses' brix before we will receive the molasses being delivered.
We incorporate molasses in our feeds, but depends on the ration and formulation.
Have you ever seen one too? What's your experience about it?
